I loved the movie!!!!!

I'm pretty picky when it comes to movie adaptations of books I love (I guess we all are), but I thought Stardust was great. I know Gaiman was really careful when choosing a production company to adapt his beloved graphic novel. He'd seen what happened to Alan Moore with The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and From Hell (both amazing books, despite appearances) and didn't settle for just anyone. I'm looking forward to other Gaiman adapted movies like Coraline, Good Omens, etc.

Oh, and Tristen is my favorite character, the ending didn't make me cry but I liked it just the same.

i think that the movie really left some things out, bu very pleasing for the general community.

I think that Yvaine was my favorite character. and Clare D. was great in the movie!

I missed somethings out of the book for sure. I enjoyed the movie, but was glad I had the book to fill in the gaps!

I really liked the book, but I have to admit, this is one of those really rare times when I enjoyed the movie more than the book itself.

Liked the book. Liked the movie too, but was disappointed in the very end. They happily ever after room full of good children, WE'RE BOTH STARS ending was tacked on because Americans don't like any ending that is less than upbeat.

I think the end of the book was so much more satisfying. They travelled, they had adventures, they were good rulers they loved each other with a good and true love. But he was mortal and she was a star. The picture at the end of the book of her as a lovely, lonely Queen who limped to the top of the tower to look at the sky was both beautiful and sad. All in all a bittersweet book.

I liked the ending of the book. I haven't seen the movie, but hope to.

I really, really enjoyed the movie, and I'm wondering if I should read the book. Has anyone who has read the book read The Princess Bride? To me, the movie Stardust felt like that book (not so much the movie The Princess Bride-a convoluted comparison I know, my apologies). I wonder how the book version of Stardust compares to all of these (the movie Stardust, and the book and movie The Princess Bride), if they are even comparable.

so I finally got around to watching the movie...which wasn't that bad. However I will say that I hate the fact that they changed the end. The end of the book was really the part of the story that felt...not cliche...it was a not-completely happy ending and so didn't feel as trite; That was so NOT the case with the movie!

It's strange to say I liked the movie better than the book. Then again, I saw the film before I read the book, so I guess that spoiled it, but the movie was much more entertaining. It built up that love story better than the book did, in my opinion. And I loved Shakespeare.

So, the thing about the movie that didn't really do it for me is the fact that the back of the box says, "A movie that will make you believe in love again."

I'm not too keen on things that make such bold claims that there's obviously no possible way that they can uphold.

I listened to the audiobook on this one - Neil Gaiman read it himself, and it is absolutely fantastic. So, honestly, I cried at the end of the book but not at the end of the movie.

All of the characters are great, but my favorite is probably the badger wearing a purple nightgown.

Personally I like to think of the Movie and the book as two differnt stories with Similar features. Why? Because they are both Great in their own way. I loved the Book, I loved the movie too!

Lets face it the book had slow parts ie: the witch giving up wouldn't have worked well in a movie format. But worked just fine in the book!! And the sappy ending of the movie was put their for shear fandoms sake and wouldn't have flown in the book at all

I read the book a long time before the movie came out. I remember thinking this would make a great movie, and Claire Danes would be perfect as Yvaine, so that was 2 pleasant surprises. I don't like watching the movie after reading a book and thinking, "Why did they get that actor to play so and so. That isn't even close." I really enjoyed the book, then when the movie came out, I had to watch it. I liked the movie too. Not sure I can say I enjoyed one more than the other.

A friend recommended the movie as "The Princess Bride for the 2000s" and I enjoyed it. Claire Danes was great as Yvaine. Later, I picked up the book. I definitely liked parts of the book better than the movie. The ending in the movie was definitely cheesy and meant to give the people leaving a theatre a happy feeling. I have to say that the witch's ending in the book was much more clever than the "shine" part at the end at Lamia's house. It seemed to come out of nowhere. I like happy endings as much as the next person but the book ending made for a much better story. In the end, I guess I have to agree with Amber's posting above that they are different and can be enjoyed in their own way.

I liked the movie a lot! I missed a few things from the book, but also enjoyed some of the changes. Overall I like the book's ending. I like the way Gaiman ties things together at the end. I especially like the ending as far as the witch-queen better in the book, but I prefer the movie's ending for Tristran and Yvaine. I'm a sucker for happily ever after. Neither ending made me cry though. My favorite character is Tristran.
