I waited far too long to read the unforgettable A Constellation of Vital Phenomena, by Anthony Marra. Awful war, wonderful people, terrific writing.

T 4 more to go How does Ireland produce such good writers?! I have added Colm Tóibín to my growing list of Irish authors I've enjoyed. Brooklyn is a far cry from the Irish village where young Eilis grew up. Quite an eye-opener for her.

F Two and a half more to go - hope I make it!Richard Flanagan has been one of my favourite Aussie writers even before he won the Booker Prize in 2014. The Sound of One Hand Clapping was only his second novel and features the struggles of European migrants who came to build the Tasmanian hydro dams.

If it weren't for challenges, I might never have stumbled across this amazing story, just because I needed a UOusman Umar's memoir North to Paradise: My Journey Along the World's Most Dangerous Migrant Route, is unimagineable. It's amazing he survived his trek through Africa as a kid. Compelling story! (Lovely guy, too.)
