What are your New Year's Resolutions for 2022 in the bookish world?

Did you end up reading more, less, or the same in 2021 due to the ongoing pandemic?

What do you want to change, if any, about your reading habits?

Cobwebs-Iced-Across-SpaceTime (readingreindeerproximacentauri) | 325 comments I read 680 in 2020, as of this date only 415 this year.
Considering I was in bed at home June 25-July 5 and in Hospital July 6-12, diagnosed with Covid-19, Pneumonia, Dehydration, I'm not surprised at all. That was a good 16 days with no reading. Since the "Jackpot Prize," I haven't been in poor health (except for the 10 days sore throat a few weeks back), but I haven't been up to scratch and am feeling and acting debilitated.

I'm only going to set for 2022 a goal of 250 total, 75 for Virtual Mount TBR and 75 for Mount TBR. I also plan to increase my reading/reviewing of NetGalley ARCs (which will surely increase my Mount TBR reads), and to increase the volume of SF reads.

Carol (carol07) | 4354 comments I think I am going to try to read at least 250 books for my Bookish New Years Resolution. Of those, I want to read at least 12 of my own and also at least 12 non-fiction. I know, the last two items are not too aggressive...

Ended up reading more books than I plan. I chalk that up to careful planning.

Am pretty satisfied with my reading habits.

I love reading all the different goals that people are thinking about for the upcoming year. It makes me feel like I wanted to challenge myself more, but I'm going to resist in favor of a year of self care goals :)

Self care goals are VERY important.

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) | 954 comments I plan on reading at least 12 books in 2022. But anything more is a bonus as we're planning on decorating and sorting stuff out. This year (2021) I met my eldest son's new family which put pad to most of my reading time lol.

Charleen (charleenlynette) | 1688 comments I read more in 2021 than in 2020. I think I read more in 2021 than I have any year since my first was born, if you take out all the comics I was reading those early years... and if you don't, the page count would probably be close, even if the book counts were higher.

I've already listed my "book count" goals on my challenge thread, but for the sake of consolidation, here they are again:

📚 85 books read total
📚 24 books owned prior to 2022
📚 60 books borrowed
📚 15% or fewer books not on my radar prior to 2022

I've also got some additional goals regarding other stats I've only just started tracking this year. Whether I hit these numbers or not, my main resolution is to be more intentional about some of my book choices.

📚 20% nonfiction books (up from 17.7% this year)
📚 45% books by non-white authors (up from 35.6%)
📚 6% books by non-cis authors (up from 3.8%)

These goals are based on number of books, but I'd like the option of basing my stats on length of content as well, pages read or minutes listened. Which leads me to my last set of goals.

📚 30,000 total pages read (up from 29,510)
📚 14 days total audiobook minutes (up from 9.8)

(I know that audiobook goal is quite an ambitious leap, but I got new earbuds for Christmas, so in theory I should have more opportunities for listening. I'm also counting minutes according to the recording; actual time spent listening will vary, but I usually start at x1.5 speed and then adjust up or down as needed for any given book.)

Phew! I already knew I was a numbers nerd, but this year I may be taking it too far. If keeping track of all this ends up driving me bad-crazy more than it feeds my good-crazy, I may just drop the whole thing.
