Hey, everyone! I'm Jerin, I live in Atlanta but from Phoenix. I joined the group to read & learn more about Black characters by Black authors (I'm sure that's why most of us are here 😅). I enjoy mysteries, adult romance, thrillers/suspense, but I'm open to any recommendations!

Hi everyone, I'm a developmental editor who specializes in sci-fi and fantasy. I would love to support more stories with black protagonists, particularly in those genres where they are mostly absent. I’m more into non-fiction these days but I can still get down with a fictional dalliance or two. Full-time work and grad school full-time make it hard to get in as much reading for pleasure as I’d like, but I still try my best.

I am Kenneth Nixon Jr. I am new to the platform and getting comfortable navigating these types of communal spaces. I will be a debut author May 2nd 2023 with my first book, a memoir titled "Born Into Crisis." I use my personal stories (born to a mother with severe mental illness) to highlight the environmental, social, and generational traumas that keep black Americans trapped in generational cycles. I also focus on a call to action on how we can transform the behavioral health system in the U.S.

As you can probably tell, my book is political satire. It’s a fully illustrated fairytale about Cornelius Wannabe. He’s a “want to be” dictator that will do and say anything to seize power and deliver retribution! If Dr. Seuss was black and delivered rhymes like a punch this book would be it.
