Happy New Year everyone! I just randomly got 2 requests to join and it reminded me that this group was one of the bright spots for me in 2021. I really enjoyed interacting with all of you on these topics. So I thought I'd post a new question and see what kind of response we get.

This is a hard one - try not to cheat - make it ONE book! I'm off to look at my list and see if I can do it :)

Okay that wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, because I re-read this Of Human Bondage last year and it is one of my favorite books of all time.

It's difficult to pinpoint exactly why this one speaks to me the way it does, but if I was only allowed one book in 2021, I could not do better than to pick this classic.

Melindam | 69 comments Very tough one, Ange. :)

But I would pick The Splendid and the Vile: A Saga of Churchill, Family, and Defiance During the Blitz by Erik Larson.

It was a fantastic read.. well.. listen with a great narrator. :)

It had me at the edge of my seat and I felt like listening to a chain of events happening right now and not more than 70 years ago.

This year, I am intending to read In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler's Berlin by him. I already purchased both the audiobook in English and the paperback version in Hungarian.

Katie | 1 comments Hi I'm new here :) My pick is The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah I read it towards the end of 2021 so it's still resonating a lot with me. One of my January 2022 reads was The Great Alone but The Nightingale still has my top spot for this author.
