The title, the cover, the blurb, the length of it, whether it's by a familiar author, etc

Caleb | 1 comments Book design and the title will never go out of style. I pick a book based on these two primary items even if there’s a recommendation or hype surrounding the author or book.

Breyonna Jordan, Developmental Editor | 14 comments First of the cover and title. Then the blurb. Unless the author wrote one of my absolute favorite books then I don't particularly care who it's written by. A good blurb will get me to read almost any book though.

Shaylah If I’m in a book store the cover is what’s going to catch my eye and it usually determines if I’m going to pick that book up or not.

When I’m online I see the title first, the cover really doesn’t matter to me. That’s because I’m in a much more comfortable setting and willing to spend a lot more time looking for books to read.

I’m probably in the minority on this but I won’t consider a book with half naked people looking all seductive on the cover, in the store or online.

Dwan | 2 comments The cover catches me first. Then if the synopsis piques my interest, I’m sold.

Kaya W. The cover, the title, then the synopsis. Sometimes I even take the size of the font into consideration (bad eyes).

Shana (brownetime08) | 13 comments The cover, including the colors and quality of image, stand out to me first. Then it's the description, length, and layout.

Debbie N | 3 comments First thing that attracts me to a book is the author. If I’ve ever heard of it before. I really enjoy books written by my people but if it seems interesting enough I will give any book a chance.

message 9: by iselenris (new)

iselenris | 1 comments if certain people are reading it then im naturally inclined, biggest attraction is definitely the cover as well as the author’s name. The blurb is what ultimately décidés whether or not i’ll read it

message 10: by Christy (new)

Christy Marie | 2 comments This might be shallow but the cover is always first for me. If that’s a green flag. I read the first line after the acknowledgment/ forewords etc. If that catches my attention then I’m in.
