Mae govannen!
This is Lily from the Faith & Fantasy group! If you're new here and haven't gotten to introduce yourself yet, we would all love to welcome you here!
And keep reading to find out about what's coming up with this group. 🙂
🧙♂️January Book of the Month🧙♂️
As January comes to a close, I'd love to hear from you if you joined along and read The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien with us. Don't worry if you didn't, though! You can join in the reading this upcoming month or anytime in the future. Also, don't forget to vote on our Tolkien-themed polls.
⚔️February Book of the Month!⚔️
Voting has closed for our February BOTM and we will be reading...

The False Prince is full of action, adventure, and intrigue (and humor!). I think it will prove to be a great read for both teens and adults alike. You can let us know if you've read it or if you'll be joining us in reading it this upcoming month here.
🏆Member of the Month🏆
Congratulations to Ellie, you're our Member of the Month for February! 🎉 You can congratulate Ellie here.
♥️What else can you do in this group?♥️
We've got fun games, discussions (both bookish and general), buddy reads, quizzes, polls, and bookish questions! We've even got a girl talk just for you gals out there!
As always, I am so grateful for all of you!
Lily
P.S. We just passed 300 members! If you've got any friends on Goodreads who might be interested in joining Faith & Fantasy, it'd mean so much to me if you took a minute or two to invite them to join!
P.P.S. Also, if you ever need prayer, please know we've got your back! Share your requests here. God bless! 💗

Hello!
Just a quick announcement. If anyone's interested, there will be a buddy read of Morgan L. Busse's Mark of the Raven going on this month. The premise for it is below. It's a Christian fantasy novel with beautiful prose and deep spiritual themes. If you've been wanting to read it or if the description piques your interest, do think about joining the buddy read!
(Also, if you've already read Mark of the Raven, please consider joining us in buddy reading book 2, Flight of the Raven!)

Dreamwalker. Nightwatcher. Lady of Ravenwood.
Lady Selene Has Come into Her Family's Power. But Has She Inherited a Gift or a Curse?
Lady Selene is heir to the House of Ravenwood and the secret family gift of dreamwalking. As a dreamwalker, she can enter a person's dreams and manipulate their greatest fears or desires. Soon after the gifting, however, Selene discovers that the Ravenwood women have been secretly using their gift to gather information or to assassinate those responsible for the fall of House Ravenwood to the Dominia Empire hundreds of years ago.
As she becomes more entrenched in Ravenwood's dark past, Selene longs to find out the true reason behind her family's gift, believing that its original intent could not have been for such evil purposes, but she is torn about upholding her family's legacy—a legacy that supports her people. Selene's dilemma comes to a head when she is tasked with assassinating the one man who can bring peace to the nations—but who is also prophesied to bring about the downfall of her own house.
One path holds glory and power and will solidify her position as Lady of Ravenwood. The other path holds shame and likely death. Which will she choose? And is she willing to pay the price for the path chosen?

Poll for our March and April Books of the Month
Please take a second or two to cast your vote for our March Book of the Month! You can do that here. If you don't know what a Book of the Month is, you can find out in the next paragraph. Also, I won't be on Goodreads from March 2nd to April 10th, so the book that takes second in this poll will automatically become our BotM for April.
For those of you who don’t know, Book of the Months are group readings each month (e.g. February's BotM is The False Prince). These are completely optional, but people often find it fun and motivating to read a book in the same general time frame as others. This is also a good way to discover new fantasy reads. Discussions and activities will be created for each BotM, and the group home page will also be transformed to fit each book every month.
You may vote for whichever book you’d like, even if you aren’t sure you'll be joining in with the reading.
What else can you do in this group?
We have games, discussions (both bookish and general), buddy reads, quizzes, polls, and bookish questions! We've even got a girl talk just for you gals out there!
Until next time,
Lily
P.S. I've always loved Goodreads, so I thought giving it up for a month would be a reasonable sacrifice on my part for 40 Days for Life. If you'd like to learn more, please visit https://www.40daysforlife.com/en/.

Thomas Fawkes is turning to stone, and the only cure to the Stone Plague is to join his father’s plot to assassinate the king of England.
Silent wars leave the most carnage. The wars that are never declared, but are carried out in dark alleys with masks and hidden knives. Wars where color power alters the natural rhythm of 17th century London. And when the king calls for peace, no one listens until he finally calls for death.
But what if death finds him first?
Keepers think the Igniters caused the plague. Igniters think the Keepers did. But all Thomas knows is that the Stone Plague infecting his eye is spreading. And if he doesn’t do something soon, he’ll be a lifeless statue. So when his Keeper father, Guy Fawkes, invites him to join the Gunpowder Plot—claiming it will put an end to the plague—Thomas is in.
The plan: use 36 barrels of gunpowder to blow up the Igniter King.
The problem: Doing so will destroy the family of the girl Thomas loves. But backing out of the plot will send his father and the other plotters to the gallows. To save one, Thomas will lose the other.
No matter Thomas’s choice, one thing is clear: once the decision is made and the color masks have been put on, there’s no turning back.

Could you survive on your own in the wild, with every one out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weight survival against humanity and life against love.
Please note that The Hunger Games may not be suitable for some readers, namely those who are younger and/or are sensitive to violent content.

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkeness bind them...
In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, The Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-earth, it remained lost to him. After many ages it fell into the hands of Bilbo Baggins, as told in The Hobbit.
In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task, as his elderly cousin Bilbo entrusts the Ring to his care. Frodo must leave his home and make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ring and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purpose.

Hey everyone!
I launched my blog a little while ago, and I've been super busy with that and with other matters. If you're an author, blogger, or fellow reader, I'd love to connect with you! My blog address is https://booksbystarlight.wordpress.com. Books by Starlight is the place where I will share about stories that matter to me, and I'm sure that'll include quite a bit of fantasy!
Unfortunately, I missed last month's broadcast, but please be on the lookout for a post in the near future detailing more of what's been going on here at Faith & Fantasy.
Right now, I'm here to share about a book from a dear sister in Christ. In the past, she's gone by the name of Nicole E. Tawney, and now she's published a new book called Defender under the name of C.C. Urie.
Defender
The story is a Science Fiction / Fantasy retelling of Esther and conveys the worth we have in God's eyes, which is something I know many people struggle with nowadays.
Part of the reason I'm sharing about Defender today is because the author has fallen on some hard times and is currently struggling through deep family difficulties. It would be wonderful if Faith & Fantasy could come together as a community and support Nicole and her work, not only through kind thoughts and prayers, but also through potentially buying her work.
So please, if Defender sounds like a book you or someone you know would enjoy, do consider making a purchase if you are able. <3 I'm sharing about this book for the sole purpose of supporting Nicole through her dark night of the soul, and I'm sure your consideration will mean the world to her. Nicole, if you ever see this post, please know that you are loved. <3

Cast out of her family, Larken Hale, the Daughter of the Military, is forced to take up the cause to appease her family. Leaving everything she knows and loves behind, Larken sets out and tries to find her own way.
Captain Soren Deckard has only ever known the military, and he understands what is expected of him. But when the District Heiress joins the squad he has worked so hard to perfect, she turns everything he thought he knew upside down.
When their two lives clash together, it seems like nothing will survive the carnage. Together, they must learn to trust and accept the other. But when feelings and emotions are set on fire, will the two make it out to the other side?

Hey, you guys!
I don't usually disclose poll results before voting ends, but there are a few close calls right now, namely between The Silmarillion and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone for the winner and between The Thief and The Legends of Elanimar #1: Through the Eye.
https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/2...
This means that if you haven't voted yet, your vote could make a big difference. And if you've already voted and feel strongly about this, do think about bugging your GR friends to vote, too! We're coming up on Faith & Fantasy's first anniversary, so I'd love to be able to get to 700 members before then! ❤️

Mae govannen!
I'm here to announce that our October Book of the Month is THE SILMARILLION by J.R.R. Tolkien!

But seriously, I know I've already convinced some Faith & Fantasy members to read The Silm, and so far, all of them have loved it (or so they say...).

The Silmarillion is a must if you love...
✩ J.R.R. Tolkien
✩ High fantasy
✩ Middle-earth
✩ Books that challenge
✩ A Christian worldview
✩ Tragic heroes
✩ Epic stories
✩ Classics
✩ Mythology
✩ Political drama
✩ Elves, Elves, & more Elves
✩ Old-fashioned writing, amazing themes, hidden cities, dead people, lots of ice, monsters, royalty, burning ships, romance, betrayal, & characters Lily is obsessed with
✩ And most importantly, hope amidst the darkness

Do you love Middle-earth? Do you know someone who has read The Silm? Maybe you even own a copy or have read it yourself. Join the discussion now! https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Did I sell that right?

Goooooood afternoon Faith & Fantasy members!!
It’s our annual time to announce our new Book of the Month for April!! 🥳 I have to say, it was very fun seeing which book was going to rise to the top. It was very close the past day, but one nudged it’s way past and took the lead! Now before I announce it, I just want to say that having the power of knowing what the book is going to be is really fun! My sister was practically begging me to tell her what it is, but I brushed her off like a little fly and told her to wait! 😂
Now, for a drum roll… *drum roll* our Book of the Month is…….Dance Of Thieves, by Mary E. Pearson.
Whooo hooo!! 🥳🥳🥳
I hope you all can make it to this Book of the Month, and if you can’t, well I hope to see you next time!! Have an amazing day! :)

Hey everyone!
This is just a quick message, but our May Book of the Month poll will be closing in three days, and our two top choices are very close in their number of votes! So, if you have not already voted, I would invite you to do so now. ;)

Also, if you haven't already, make sure to vote on which book among those Faith & Fantasy has read in the past is your favorite!

Lily <3
P.S. We recently passed 800 members! How cool is that?! And imagine what it would be like to have 1,000 people in this little group of ours. *stares dreamily into the distance* If you have any GR friends who might be interested in joining Faith & Fantasy, it'd mean so much to me if you could invite them to join!
P.P.S. Also, if you ever need prayer, please know we've got your back! Share your requests here. God bless!

Hi everyone!
I know we've recently been welcoming a lot of new members (it's crazy, but there are almost 1,000 of you now! <3), so I just wanted to take some time to spotlight a few of Faith & Fantasy's most popular threads.
Whether you're new to the group or have been lurking around for a while (no shame there, lol!), I hope you find these to be both helpful and fun. Enjoy!
✯ ⭒Introduce yourself!⭒ If you haven't done so already, this is the place to start. Thank you to everyone these past two years who have been so welcoming to new members!
✯ ⭒Request a Buddy Read!⭒ Have you always wanted a reading buddy or two? Is there a fantasy or faith-based book you've been eyeing lately? Have you been procrastinating on a book or two that you know you should read? If you answered yes to any of those questions, this is the thread for you. Thank you, Taz, for organizing this!
✯ ⭒What is the last song you listened to?⭒ Come and share some of your most-listened songs. I've been discovering some great ones through this thread!
✯ ⭒List 10!⭒ A fun game that has recently regained its popularity!
Join one thread, or join them all! It's all up to you, but either way, thank you for being a part of Faith & Fantasy!
Lily
P.S. Meme Monday will resume next week! I've just been super busy working on some stuff. :) Thank you for your understanding!

Hi, Faith & Fantasy members!
I wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone who gave their input into last week's poll. The results were overwhelming! I loved your excitement, and we received 80+ unique name suggestions and 80+ different design suggestions! I added all y'alls answers to a document, and they will help a lot with my Etsy shop.
(See poll here: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/2...)
I've also picked the giveaway winners, by the way! That's right, I decided that I was going to pick two winners instead of just one as a way to say thank you to all of you. <3 If you asked in the poll to be entered into the giveaway, your name was added to the https://wheelofnames.com/ pie chart, and I've got the randomly chosen winners, below!

Shay and faith_reads, if you're reading this, please send me a message, and I'll get your sticker packs sent asap!
I do plan on doing more mini-giveaways in the future, so don't worry too much if you missed this one! And please, if you can, I could use some prayers as I work on the shop! It's been a LOT of work, and sometimes it can feel super overwhelming. I'm making progress, though, and I'll make sure to keep you guys updated. Thank you so much!
And now for the memes. 😁

Until next week!
Lily
Mae govannen, my friends!
This message contains some pretty cool updates, so stay tuned!
First of all, I want to welcome all the new members who recently joined our group. To Eden, Kami, Hope, Emma, J, Holly, Ruby, Joy, Mary, Casey, Jamie, Manison, Ellie Ann, Jay, Janice, Josiah, and all the other amazing readers who recently joined...From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for joining Faith & Fantasy! I hope you all can feel welcome and loved in our little bookish community. If you'd like to but haven't done so already, please think about introducing yourself in our intro thread. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... We'd love to welcome you personally! :)

I would also like to thank the veteran members of Faith & Fantasy, who have been with us since the very beginning and/or who have contributed amazingly to the group...Thank you Ellie, Kacie, Taz, Helena, Mary-Therese, Alison, Sharon, Stephen, Elijah, Kara, Cat, Ava, Vienna, Carina, Ella, Jesse, Lilly, Kendra, Naomi, Evie, Sydney, Mary Emma, Shay, the Sisters Three, Winter, Mollie, Z.C., Elise, Cari, Amelia, Angieleigh, and all the rest. You make Faith & Fantasy more kind, more inspiring, and more beautiful. Nothing could be the way it is without each of you. <3
This thank-you is something I should've done a long time ago. I think about all of you every day and am amazed at the lovely community we are building. It is all a lot of work, but we are finally at 1,000 members. To celebrate, I am planning a month-long reading challenge/competition! I'm still planning out the details, but if you'd like to RSVP now, just reply to this message. There will be teams and reading tasks and such, and we'll have a BLAST!

In other news, I have been very busy working on my Etsy shop. I'm at the stage where I have a good number of designs I'm satisfied with, and now I'm looking into branding and mockups. If you love books (preferably fantasy) and would be interested in helping out a little, I need a few people to help provide quick feedback once in a while on designs. Please reply to this message if interested!
I'll be back soon with more updates on games, our Book of the Month, and that upcoming reading challenge!
