Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Jeffrey, when I search on that ISBN I get this record. Is that your book? You shouldn't need to enter the book manually if it already exists on Goodreads.

I merged your edition with the correct one. Please search for books by ISBN, title, and author before adding them manually!

When searching by ISBN, try taking out the dashes. I had a similar situation with another book (wouldn't find ISBM, but copy/pasted the ism w/o dashes and poof! it appeared).

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Yes, the ISBN search doesn't work without the dashes! Although, really, it should -- I think I'll mention that in the Feedback group.

...Except, hang on! I just tried to pull up some examples and they're all returning search results. Maybe this was changed last night? Huh. Well, yay for the change, at any rate!

Sometimes it works with the dashes; many times it does not.

David (aberrant80) | 15 comments Actually it felt more like: Most of the time it works with dashes; sometimes it doesn't work, particularly for older ISBNs.

Sandra | 31414 comments Hello fellow libraians, I've been in GR since August 2009, and I've never used dashes, and its worked every time. I never even thought of putting them in.

As far as I know, it ALWAYS works without them. With them, sometimes yes, sometimes no.

I never use them when entering by hand, but sometimes when cutting-and-pasting from another site.
