Michael J. (michaeljclarke) | 93 comments Hello everyone! I'm Michael J and I'm grateful to Sally for the invite. This looks like a great group. I see some familiar names, but many more new ones - - which is great.
My favorite genre to read is horror, followed by crime. Those are my big two. I read many types of fiction and nonfiction at a ratio of 10 to 1 or more. Right behind horror and crime are science fiction and fantasy in my genres of choice.

message 210: by Ian (RebelGeek) (new)

Ian (RebelGeek) Seal (rebel-geek) | 409 comments Hi, I'm Ian & I'm addicted to genre fiction in all it's forms. I bought an audiobook today. He he.
Many of my favorite books (& entertainment) cross genres. Star Wars (sci-fi/fantasy), The Dark Tower (Horror/fantasy/sci-fi). I could go on for a while.
I mostly listen to audiobooks for the last several years. Most of the reading I do with my eyes is comics & graphic novels. I subscribe to all of the new Marvel Star Wars comic books as they come out at my favorite comic book store, House of Secrets (Burbank, CA).
I also am addicted to vinyl records (spinning one now). I work in the music business, so sometimes I get them for free! I went to a little record shop in Eagle Rock (Los Angeles) called Arroyo Records & bought 20 records (mostly classic rock) on Friday. My favorite music lately is Stoner Doom stuff. "The Witching Hour Bell" by Dopelord. I used to play guitar & bass, but it's physically painful for me, so I don't so much anymore.
I also have a Hallmark ornament addiction. Just the nerdy stuff. They don't make too many horror ones, sadly, but I have enough Star Wars & Star Trek ornaments to populate a few trees.
I will leave you with a haiku I wrote about Frankenstein:
Patchwork body parts
Man of science playing God
Who is the monster?

@Sally: Thanks, you fellow stalker! I thought every respectable GR user is a booklist stalker at heart, then again... when I was about 6 years old the other children of my class would run away from me screaming: run! here comes potty mouth Alia! Maybe I should reflect on this? mmmhh...

You are a pretty hardcore group... taxes and ghosts??? Oh, the horror...

Greg | 8 comments Hello all my name is Greg. I mainly read Horror and Fantasy. I also try to read a fair amount of manga and comics but I have so many hobbies I always stretch myself thin.

I tend to prefer more brutal slasher and monster horror over more subtle literary works but I read quite a bit of both. I’ll read pretty much anything and it’s not unheard of for me to go from Richard Laymon to Nicholas Sparks in the span of a week.

Thanks for the invite Sally. Also hello again Kasia I think this is 3 groups together LoL.

Monica (is working the heck out of (the-pampered-reader) | 2 comments Hi All,

My name is Monica and I come to you by way of Marie (thanks for the invite!).

When I can carve out time for anything other than grading and professional development (I teach at the post-secondary level), I enjoy horror, true crime, crime thrillers, classic murder mysteries, police procedurals and some science fiction.

I used to enjoy romantic suspense before things got...old.

It's nice to meet you all.

Welcome Dan! Happy to have you here! Put your feet up, grab a cold one, and go see if you find anything of interest in here! I know one place you will end up for sure! LOL

It's a great world if you can handle it for sure. Personally I'm still affected by The Fungus by Harry Adam Knight and it's been ages since I read it.

Catherine Cavendish | 135 comments Hi everyone. I'm Cat and I write scary stories. Gothic, haunted houses, witches, ghosts, things that go considerably more than 'bump', historical and...you get the idea. I'm British and my influences include M.R. James, Ramsey Campbell, Adam Nevill, Susan Hill, Emily and Charlotte Bronte, plus a host of others - some of whom might be a little surprising. I have been reading horror in its many incarnations since I was a child although I am not a great fan of lashings of Kensington Gore and flying body parts - unless it's done exceptionally well and is necessary to the story of course.
