Caleb CW | 275 comments Most bizzaro is extreme horror or bordering on erotica Felina. It can get pretty out there, obviously there are exceptions but they're few and far between. Chances are Carlton Mellick III books would pop up pretty often and only one of his books are something I'd let my 14 year old read right now. That's Quicksand House by the way in case anyone was wondering.

Steven (tbones) | 93 comments I just hope bringing up bizarro didn't put me into the Sick B**tard category (Matt Shaw would be so proud) However, I enjoy the oddness of Mellick and Danger Slater's titles. That being said, I respect this group's choices and have had lots of fun in here. So, I will follow the recipe that works for the group.

message 55: by Steven (new)

Steven (tbones) | 93 comments Dan- if you or anyone wants more info on bizarro, I did find a great article online about it, that I can share. I learned a lot of interesting stuff about how it came about through this, that I didn't even know. Learning new stuff is always exciting. Anyway, gotta say I am already excited about this group's reads and digging in deep. The Fisherman is an amazing book so far. Sad, creepy, and oddly, made me laugh out loud!

Hi Nyssa,

Thank you for being here with us! For now were will put the group and buddy reads that has author joining us on top of the page for easy access and are planning out how to handle the multiple buddy reads we set up, will probably add most as we can see them being entered into the bookshelf but there is a lot and we don't really do end dates here just to make it less stressful, but we can add start dates. Work in progress on that and thank you for letting us know of what you want to see.

Personally I keep an excell sheet, otherwise between multiple groups is a lot of books going on so I hear you.

I understand. Yes, tracking all of the buddy reads would be a challenge. Even listing just the group reads would be a huge help. I tend to lump the two together sometimes (sorry). A spreadsheet sounds like a good idea.

Thank you for responding. :)

Denis (deez_bookish_adventures) (denis_lamontagne) | 195 comments I didn't really know where to ask this question, or if I should message one of you about it - but I wanted to suggest doing a group buddy read / series read of the Harry Potter books. I think we would have a large number of members join this for re-reads or first-time reads.

message 65: by Graeme (new)

Graeme Rodaughan | 1263 comments I first read the Potter books before they'd all been published. Number 3 was out, as I got the first three as paperbacks and the rest as hardcovers. Then I reread them a few years ago. I'm up for a series re-read at some point.

I can just set up a thread as a regular buddy read thread for any members that want to participate in the reading of the series.

I am actually in the middle of the series for the first time myself. I need to read book 5 yet though. But I would be willing to follow along with the other books as members read them.

Just let me know when you want to read the first book and I will set you up a thread for it.

Further to this question, I propose/suggest a 'Propose Buddy Reads,' thread in this folder.

A location for proposing buddy reads. I have one for October I would like to propose, and once a thread is up for proposing - I'll use it.

Thanks

Cheers Graeme

For psychological horror/thriller, I would recommend Shutter Island.

Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris are both really good.

And are you reading Finders Keepers by Stephen King? If so, just know that it's book 2 in the trilogy. The first book is Mr. Mercedes.

Hi Caroline! Just to let you know this thread is not really for book recommendations/suggestions. This thread is for suggestions from members that want to suggest things to be added to the group.

We do have a book recommendation thread though for members to give you recommendation and suggestions for books. :)

Here is that thread:

Hi Nora, good morning. Sorry the conversation upset you but it doesn't break the group rules nor was it disrespectful towards any specific member. Everyone has a different line of what is acceptable on a horror forum. However it gets in a right mess if people start dictating to others their own rules. Please contact a Mod if you think someone has crossed a line and let us deal with it and don't respond to it.

It was a "good morning" until you accused me of "dictating to others" so I am afraid I must bid you and this group adieu.

Telling people to stop talking is trying to moderate the forum. Good rule to know if you want to be in any group. Ciao.

Nora - this is a book community group - a public forum for members to discuss topics related to books and movies. What was said over on the chatter thread was a discussion about fictional movies and books. Nothing was directed at you.

We the moderators can do what needs to be done for the group members and only we can dictate what we want for this group.

You were acting like a moderator and you are not one. If you do not like what you see in groups then just scroll past those threads that you do not agree with. Like with any other social media platforms if you do not like what you see then scroll past it.

Read the rules and abide by them. All groups have rules about what is acceptable.

Mehdi Mejri | 1 comments Hello everyone,

I am new in this group and I just wanted to say how much I love the atmosphere in here — the discussions here are so full of passion and creativity. It’s rare to find a space where readers and writers connect over their shared love for fantasy in such an open, safe, and encouraging way.

As someone who has poured years into building a unique world and the characters who live in it, I would be truly honoured if my book could one day be part of the reading journey here. The Five's Oath, a dark epic set in a fractured realm where loyalty is currency, betrayal is tradition, and even the smallest secret can change the fate of a dynasty.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Whether it’s read here now or years from now, it would mean the world to me to see it in the hands of readers who cherish hard work and creativity as deeply as you do.

Thank you for welcoming me into the group — I’m looking forward to discovering new books alongside all of you.

Best Regards,

Hi Mehdi - this is thread is not for author promotions. We have a special folder where authors can post their book promotions. This thread is specifically for members who have suggestions for the group.

Here is the link to the author promotions folder and you are allowed to create whatever kind of thread you want in there for your book.
