It was pretty good. It is definitely YA, which is ok for me as long as I know that going into it. It has a love triangle, which I can't stand, but overall it was pretty interesting & entertaining enough that I'll continue with the series.

@Kristie, I'm also turned off by love triangles. And, while I own that book as an ebook, I'm not actually fond of time travel either. How was that aspect of the book?

@Kristie, I'm also turned off by love triangles. And, while I own that book as an ebook, I'm not actually fond of time travel either. How was that aspect of the book?"

Time travel isn't my favorite genre either, but that part was good. I tend to overanalyze things. So, if there are parts that I don't understand or if there are inconsistencies, it really bothers me. This book had a little of that, but not enough to make me dislike the book. Overall, very interesting.

Kristie | 3595 comments lol, Kimberly! I felt the same way. :D

Wow, Karen! You're flying through. I'm hoping to finish #2 tomorrow.

message 25: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments I'm finishing book #2 today, The Secret Keeper. I was quite bored in the beginning of this book, for probably the first half. The last 20-25% was excellent. If you love books that start off slow, then pick up pace, with an interesting mystery aspect and some twists, then you may love this one. For me, the beginning was a bit too slow.

message 26: by Lara (new)

Lara | 676 comments Kate Morton gets a lot of press for her books. However, I'm not a fan of her writing style where the story moves back and forth in time. It sounds like there is a lot of time spent in discovery as well.

I like her books, but they are very formulaic, so you need to be prepared for that. I enjoyed The Secret Keeper, although I didn't do it on audio. Another of hers I really liked was The Forgotten Garden

message 28: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments I might check that one out, Karen. This was my first Kate Morton. I didn't dislike it, it just started slower than I expected and it was a 20 hour audio, so it felt like it took a while to pick up. The Forgotten Garden is over 20 hours too. Maybe her books aren't the best audio choices?
