I think the worst has now passed in my life - 2 bereavements in a week and a child unwell has not been a barrel of laughs, but things can only go up from here right!?

I've successfully created 3 squares out of our book titles which feels like a real achievement for today.

Mini priorities:

Calliope - team member reads - 9/16 read, 1 claimed and 6 more to go

Clio - 5 currently claimed and being read, 2 more unclaimed.

Terpsichore - Ball - 2 unfinished.

Thalia and Melpomene - Stories from titles - All titles are in (Just waiting on A Carnival of Snackery to be finished). I need to actually write the stories now unless someone else is feeling wonderfully creative.

We've got less than a week left of the challenge so if you've got something on the sheet that you know you won't finish, please let us know so that we can take it out of the mini etc if needed.

I'd like recommendations for Kindle unlimited books you have read during the challenge please!

I'm glad life is (hopefully) calming down for you now. Things have been rough for a lot of people on this team during the challenge. Hopefully everyone else is managing ok, too. It's hard to lose loved ones or help them through serious illness. Good vibes to all of you...

As for KU recommendations, there are so many great titles on KU lately. I feel like they've really upped their game. I'm reading Death by Dumpling (Vivien Chien) right now and enjoying it.

Faking Under the Mistletoe was a really cute rom-com that Iooks like it's still available (although it might be early for a Christmas romance).

Everyone keeps telling me to read Freida McFadden. I haven't had the chance yet, but she has a lot on KU. I've heard The Housemaid and The Inmate are both good, but can't personally recommend them. I believe they are both psychological thrillers.

Oh Sophie, I hope things improve for you.

I've updated the sheet for a couple of books I finished over the last few days. I'm currently working my way through The Charm Offensive and should have that finished tonight (or tomorrow evening at the latest).

In terms of the other books on the sheet for me, it's unlikely I'm going to read Fated Throne or The Atlas Six. I have started them a couple of times but have not been in the right mood for them at all so have only made it a few pages through. They're not down against any challenges on the mini as far as I can see so hopefully ok to remove.

The other book that's on the sheet for me, The Cliff House, I have started but again got distracted by other books so haven't made much progress with. I can probably push on and finish it but I'm not sure it works for any of the outstanding mini tasks anyway. Weirdly it seems to be on the sheet for book that's been on your tbr for more than a year. Not sure where that came from as it's not been on my tbr for more than a year.

I can probably fit in one more book after the Charm Offensive so I may ditch the Cliff House and see if I can find something to fit one of the outstanding mini tasks instead.

We've somehow only got 2 days left! How are we that close to the end! Thank you everyone who has stuck with the challenge through the rough times that have hit and thanks to our subs from Team Gods - we couldn't have got to the end without any one of you.

Mini is very close to being done:

Erato - Keri I had put Lakesedge in for a pair. Please say if it's not going to get finished and I'll create something from the unused books.

Calliope - Elli, Alison and I are reading books for this and we've got 1 unclaimed if anyone wants to read something read by another team member. Any recommendations would be very welcome.

Clio - Audrey and Amy have books in progress. One book unclaimed at the moment.

Thalia - Amy has a book on the go for a gown on the cover.

Can't believe how close to having books for all the tasks we are!

Comedy attempt 1:

CivCEO was at A Carnival of Snackery. It was Midnight at the Electric when he heard CivCEO2 whisper Nothing to See Here. He jumped and tried to use his Rational Faculty.

Instead he saw CivCEO3 tell The Convenience Store Woman that The Best Thing was a Blood Promise. She said Hard Pass and gave the Glare to CivCEO4.

CivCEO was puzzled. What were the Transactional Dynamics between them. He had thought they were Strangers on Board but this seemed more like her Bad Ex-Boyfriend.

CivCEO's bafflement was compete when he saw CivCEO5 shouting Final Orders for Hidden Pictures and CivCEO appearing to buy them.

Where had all his clones appeared from?

Devann (devannm) | 2778 comments if a book has middle grade AND young adult on the main page tags do we still need to verify the word count? i thought i remembered in one challenge where the YA tag would like override the MG one but idk if that's still the rule or if i just made that up lol

it's The Final Trial by Kelley Armstrong. Audio is 9 hours if that helps, but it hasn't been added to AR book find yet, even though the earlier books in the series are on there.

message 1121: by Alison (new)

Alison (a1ison74) | 2826 comments Despite wandering off and reading something else that works for none of the outstanding mini tasks, I've finished my Calliope book (both on spreadsheet) I'm working in the actual office tomorrow so don't think I will manage to finish anything else I'm afraid.

Here is our tragedy entry if anyone is interested. I'm aware that this and the comedy aren't works of genius!

In The Last House on Needless Street, Hamlet struggled to stay awake. He was Haunted by The Deepest of Secrets. His Criminal Past was coming back to him like a Bullet Train.

Four years ago he had been Alone In The Wild, a Bad Situation. He'd been walking and found himself One Foot in the Grave. As A Stranger in the nearby Town he was counted as Guilty by Association. He was Hooked with no thought to Reasonable Doubt.

The Memory Police used his Twisted Loyalties to show How Democracies Die. He would remember the Police Brutality in his interviews until the End of Days.

Sophie, you're going to have to give a final yay or nay to this one. It looks okay to me, but it does have middle grades and children shelves.

Keri | 379 comments Do we have a countdown time wise to the end of the challenge today? I may finish one more book. The spreadsheet is updated with my recent books finished and I’ll add the one I’m reading in case I finish.

I’m so sorry for all you’ve been going through as well Sophie—that’s so much to be handling in RL, and you’re also being one of our amazing captains too.

I’m really hoping everyone on our team gets to catch a break with all our rough times that have gone on through this challenge.
