Shirley has always been pretty boisterous. Most often, they mean it sincerely, but other times, they're just not very good with communicating their feelings to others. In order to avoid any sort of social faux pas, they may make light of their own feelings in a certain situation. They find themself easily placated in the presence of plants, which they are known to escape into if the situation might seem to be too emotionally deep for them to handle.

Their solution to heavy atmospheres also lends to their loud nature. Practical jokes on others happen to be their forte, though on some occasions they can actually be quite helpful in relieving tension. Their penchant for plants tends to leave them smelling most often like the flowers they tend to, as well as the particular strong aroma they give off themself. This can lead to a naturally calming effect, or cause a major headache. But their gentle nature seems to soothe most emotional ailments without them realizing it.

Shirley is exceedingly conscientious, to the point that if without a chance, they might have even gone the route of breaking laws to do what they thought was right. Eco-activism is something that they often partake in, as well as finding means to live a lifestyle that is environmentally friendly. Despite their otherwise apparent dislike for studying, they enjoy rethinking technological and mechanical applications to better make them sustainable. Which is how they've managed to get a motorcycle running on water. If there's a science question to be had, they're a solid place to start for an answer.

Without a doubt, Shirley is a towering figure. They stand at six foot eight inches (minus their pistols), making it necessary for them to be seated in the back and to have to duck under doorways. Atop their head are two horn-like structures. While they appear hard, they're actually quite soft. This is because they're pistols and are quite sensitive. Previously, they had been protected by petal-like groupings of hair at the crown of their head while they were still growing, but those have since drooped. Their hair is white with red and blue highlights and tips, and undercut making those colors most apparent. While it is about armpit length, they tend to keep it up in a ponytail.

They appear to have a rough exterior with numerous piercings that are removed when in school, but present otherwise. While physically they are masculine, they have a preference for wearing the female uniform and outside of classes their style appears to rely on more androgynous grunge trends. In the spring and summer, it's common to find them with their sleeves rolled up, while they tend to be more bundled up in the winter and fall to fight against the cold they so dislike. Their hero costume is also distinctly feminine. Shirley's known for being exceedingly polite in the presence of the elderly and authority figures, but veers more toward slang around their classmates. As to whether they sound masculine or feminine is variable on the day.

Born in Hokkaido, it was said that a thousand flowers bloomed at Shirley's birth. Their mother, a nameless woman that had been passing through, passed soon after this momentous occasion, leaving them in the care of an old couple that had been carrying for their mother. It wasn't clear if the woman had a quirk or not, but they'd been told that the village had been plagued with withering crops when she arrived. The auspicious marking had been decided as a quirk and their mother's passing as a reversal of this power.

Raised by this elderly couple, they received hand-me-downs from the village and learned of traditions that would have been otherwise missed. They were nurtured in a culture more in-tune with nature than those of the city, carrying it with them through to middle school. When Shirley's quirk had become apparent, the village thrived and soon money was raised to send them off to a fancy school in the city. The hope was that they would be able to study agriculture eventually to better the land around the farming community. They found themself passing through the hands of relatives that had moved away from the village, learning more about the city and the wealth that had spread to them.

Shirley would never take these moments for granted, then being a small middle-schooler that had not yet hit their growth spurt. Their quirk's physical characteristics did draw some attention, often garnering admirers for their much softer appearance. Vulnerable then, much like a new sprout sticking out of the ground, they had their fair share of mishaps. They had the good luck of avoiding most terrible accidents, until they witnessed the kidnapping of a classmate. A chance encounter that had them roped into the mess.

Their quirk was useful in escaping their captors, but when they sought the help of the police, the matter had been dismissed with little done to solve it. To them, this was not the community that cared. The farming village would have stopped at nothing to ensure such acts wouldn't happen again. So — they took matters into their own hands. It was the turning point of using their powers more offensively, leaving behind a garden of gangsters trapped in flowers. Shortly thereafter, with the excessive use of their quirk, Shirley hit that growth spurt they'd wanted. Their admirers shifted in demographic and they found that they needed to make their escape more often to avoid the people challenging them.

It was suggested by one of their hosts that they ought to attend UA. Perhaps it was in the hopes that they would stop going out nightly as part of the neighborhood watch, their size then already impressive enough to fend off most people. Not to mention the folks that hung around them. With little to lose, Shirley applied, and while they somehow still struggle with the environment of the school, it's been...fun, they'd say.

Personality: Edan is typically fun and bubbly. He doesn’t much care what other people’s perception of him is, as long as it's not hurting anyone. He’s sweet and empathetic and quite social. He likes hearing about other people’s lives and experiences and is very much an open book when it comes to his feelings. Edan is very emotionally intelligent, regarding both other people and himself.
While he may talk about how he feels in the moment, Edan would never talk about his own life. He plays it off as if he doesn’t want to talk too much about himself, but in actuality, the things that happened to him still haunt him. She was a blunt woman with strict rules, but she wasn’t ever cruel. At least not that he remembered. When he was eight, his mother got married to a man who Edan always just knew as ‘Frank’. The guy was nice enough, and brought Edan small pieces of candy every once in a while, and Edan liked his daughters. They were twins, Cameron and Tessa, and they made sure to include him in their games, even if he couldn’t always be active. They weren’t really family, but they were close enough.
When the boy turned eleven, he went to school for the first time. Previously, he’d been home-schooled and it worked well for him. His quirk had never been an issue, although his step-sisters would tease him for it being “gross”. He’d never thought of it that way though. The black substance that came from his body was almost like a life-long friend. It didn’t speak, but it was alive almost, enough so that it had a personality. For some, it was a scary quirk, for others, kind of cool. But to Edan it was just a normal quirk.
He was fine in normal school for a while. In fact, people liked him. The teachers thought he was kind and responsible and the students thought he was cool and fun. It was a nice change of pace from having his step sisters be the only friends he had.
Thirteen was when it changed though. Nothing could last forever, and it didn’t. The thing with Edan’s quirk was that it was mildly poisonous to the touch. Not too much, it was like poison ivy. At least at first. It wasn’t obvious that it had changed its level of toxicity.
Another fact about the ability was that it chose when to come out. That wasn’t much of a problem, it typically seeped out slowly, giving people time to react to it. Except that if Edan got afraid, it was extremely protective and would act as some kind of shield. Sometimes a weapon, but usually just a barrier keeping Edan safe.
This was different. At thirteen, there were a few people who decided they didn’t like Edan much - for what, he didn’t know - and although it was a bit sad, the boy didn’t pay it much thought because he had plenty of people who did like him. He wasn’t aware that they hated him so much that they were willing to corner him in an alley after school. He was hit a couple of times before his quirk came out. He thought he was going to die. He almost blacked out.
He wished he blacked out.
The black substance ripped from his skin and enveloped the other boys. Edan saw them screaming but the sounds were muffled by the ink. It was killing them. Their skin was burning and they were choking and all Edan could do was watch it play out, terrified and crying, yelling at the thing to stop. It didn’t listen to him.
He didn’t remember much after that, but he knew that when he saw his mom next was at her funeral. She’d heard the news and killed herself, apparently saying that she couldn’t bear having a child who was a murderer. His step-father and step-sisters stopped seeing him. Dragon Appearance: Small dragon, 5' 8'' maybe, with four legs and two wings, a long tail and sharp horns. Diamond hard jet black scales and light indigo eyes that glow faintly, large wings with semi translucent membranes that are extremely dark purple. Her spines on her back are sharp and black. She has a couple of scales on her face that are a dark purple, almost freckles.

Personality: Nyx is mute, but uses sign language as communication. She is usually very quiet, not signing unless she has to. She avoids hurting people with her quirk, and thinks that she is a monster, but does not show this fact to anybody. She's very thoughtful and will always think before she signs. She despises bullies/mean people and will always stand up to people who she perceives as rude. Her eyes freak people out and she's commonly in a corner by herself, looking downcast, but always watching.

Personality: Aspen is an introverted individual who is very set in her ways, and very stubborn. She's usually extremely kind, going out of her way to help others, but when someone enters her area when she's in her zone, there'll literally be blood to pay. She's got a very strong leadership aura, often finding herself in positions of power, but she's very responsible with how she uses it and commonly asks others how they feel about things before she enacts them. History: Deep in the forests of rural Japan is a community of people who have been keeping to themselves for centuries, developing quirks as defense mechanisms against the outside world. Nyala was seen as the village's star child and Lyana overlooked, which she was fine with. The twins had a sturdy relationship that they'd watch each other's backs, which was easy for Lyana, since Nyala was always loved, so she didn't have to do much watching. Nyala, however, spends a lot of time standing up for her sister, who doesn't really care if she's bullied. Every once in a while, once they are old enough, the village sends teens to UA, where they are told to act like they are being trained for being pro heros, but then to come back to the village once they graduate, to defend further against the almost taboo ways of the outside world. Their parents always tried to get Lyana to be more like Nyala, but to no avail, she was very nature driven, and at peace with herself. Her parents gave up once they realized this.

Hero Costume: It's completely plain black and is a full body suit, with a slightly see-through substance around her eyes that she can see through. She drew with a marker on it one day, adding a silver chain around her left wrist, to signify that she's trapped by her lies and secrets and what people think of her and how she wants to escape, but can't.

Personality: AJ is, well, secretive and very sneaky. She enjoys confusing people, finding it a bit funny and likes to be around people. She will always think about what she's about to say before she says it, which comes off as she's thoughtful, although she's not really, just careful. She's extremely stealthy and an extremely good liar, sometimes she doesn't even know if she's lying. She was learning about her powers slowly, and got expelled once from a middle school and then went to a high school, and got expelled, but finally made it to UA, where she decided this was the school she would stick with.
