Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments This thread is to discuss The Help by Kathryn Stockett.

Pages: 464 pages

Length: 1 Month (May)

Participants: Saha, Lorraine, Joan, Desiré.

Everyone reads at their own pace during a Buddy Read. Because participants can be at different parts of the book at different times, it is extremely important to mark spoilers so that the book is not ruined for someone who is not as far along as others!!!

Mark spoilers by placing {spoiler} before the text and {/spoiler} after the text but use the < and > instead of the { and }.

Happy Buddy Reading!

Joan Barnett | 1007 comments This has been #1 on my tbr list for a long time. I'm glad I'm finally going to read it!

Same! Started the audiobook yesterday and am really enjoying it so far. I remember loving the movie but can’t remember much of it anymore.

Lorraine | 2385 comments I have mixed feeling for this book. I am at about 30% of the book and I feel the story is just starting...It is quite long to set up the main subject...

I was kinda worried about that with this one. I'm planning on starting this one next week most likely.

Thieryn | 133 comments Started and finished in less than 24 hours, I loved this book. Absolutely adored it. The built up was necessary to paint an accurate picture and set the tone of the world these women lived in, and I didn't mind it at all - me, who usually gets bored when there's no plot happening.

10/10 would read again.

Joan Barnett | 1007 comments I finally started it and I like the tone so far. I'm into the story and the people. My other books took awhile to read and May ended up being busier than expected.

Joan Barnett | 1007 comments I feel like I had a preconceived notion on how this book was going to read. I'm pretty into the story. Not really what I thought. One of my friends told me she put it aside because it was hard for her to read it in the accent. I'm not having a hard time with that at all.

I like the mystery around Miss Celia. I'm pressing on to find out what is going on there. The other two story lines are good too but I'm just more intrigued with Miss Celia.

I'm sure I'll finish this quickly since I'm pretty into it.

I apologize for starting so late but I really don't know where May went. My co-worker was out of work with a ton of health problems and I got caught up trying to keep up with the workload.

Joan Barnett | 1007 comments I'm finally two thirds of the way through. I am enjoying the book. I'm just busier than I thought I'd be right now. It has a lot of mystery around some of the characters and you wonder what is going to happen next. You fall in love with all of the characters. The characters are done beautifully.

Joan Barnett | 1007 comments I completed The Help. I found it really good and I thought it had a lot of intrigue with it. I'm glad I finally read it. I don't know why it took me so long. It was on my tbr since 2012.

How did you all do with it?
