Nell has always wanted to be an actor, but doubts her ability. As a member of her school’s theater program, she prefers working backstage. On the way to a contest, an unexpected blizzard strands her acting troupe in a creepy motel. Soon they meet a group of strangers from another high school—including the mysterious and handsome Knox, who insists they play the game Two Truths and a Lie. When it’s Nell’s turn, she draws a slip of paper inked in unfamiliar handwriting:

I like to watch people die.
I’ve lost count of how many people I’ve killed.

Suddenly a night of harmless fun turns into a matter of life and death. As guests go missing, it becomes clear that a murderer is hiding in their midst ready to strike again. In a room full of liars and performers, the truth is never quite what it seems. Nell is going to have to act like her life depends on it—because it does.

So this has been pretty much all set up at this point. We've met the 2 groups of students plus a few other people at the motel.

We just got to the point where Nell has pulled the slip of paper where someone claims to be a killer. Definitely creepy and I'm curious to see which of them it is. So far my theory is Knox or Stuart.

The Ouija board scene was super creepy. The murders committed there 20 years ago sound gruesome. I wonder if those murders will be connected to what is happening now.

Wow, ok so the first of the group was killed. Poor Maeve. I wonder who did it?

So it was all a prank? Those other kids are jerks for that. Why would you joke about someone being dead?

I wonder who's trapped in the truck that Nell and Adam found. Could it be the girls? Or Stuart? Someone else?

So much happened in this section. Linus was a bank robber. Brian was a human trafficker. Edgar was an addict. And Stuart ended up being the murderer.

The group came very close to not making it out near the end there.

Finally got around to this!

Chapter 1 – 8 : (view spoiler)[So, nothing much has happened so far and I am bit surprised because we are almost 25% in and the author is still just setting up the scene. I liked all the introductions and getting to know the characters chapters but they definitely could have been shorter. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 9 – 16 : (view spoiler)[The mystery is definitely interesting but I am a bit frustrated by how slow the things are progressing, the 20 years old murder must play a part in the present by the way they are detailed and my doubts are shifting towards either Oscar or someone outside the groups (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 17 – 24 : (view spoiler)[Please please don’t let it all be a prank!!! Valeria’s is for sure not dead it seems but what about Maeve? (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 25 – 32 : (view spoiler)[This whole book took a drastic turn. Where did that family come from? And is Brian involved? The mother had a strange reaction upon seeing him (hide spoiler)]

Finished : (view spoiler)[woah, so Stuart turned out to be the killer after all. I am most happy for Travis, also glad that Nell didn’t end up with Knox. The whole group survived this difficult ordeal but I still found the book lacking is aspects, there were so many elements that I feel it took away the appeal of the hotel murder mystery for me (hide spoiler)]
