Here's a place to read the last book available in the Nightmare Chronicles!
Just look at that awesome cover! LOOK AT IT!!

I'm looking at it Char! The best thing I ever did was look at these covers and buy them all immediately. They needed to be in my personal physical collection. And it has been the most fun series to read with y'all. I got a bit behind this month but I'm almost finished with City of Blood. I'll be sad when this is over though.

I will be too! The cover artist is my absolute favorite: Daniele Serra.
He's so talented and his covers are instantly recognizable.

I saw some of his work, fell head-over-heels in love with it, and thought it would be a wonderful fit for the fantastical blend of horror and adventure that you see in this series, so I reached out to him, not sure what to expect, and things all just fell into place. He’s incredibly generous and kind.

My holding place for this discussion. I am going to be sad when this series is over.

Good question! I want to know that too.

I don’t know the answer to that question just yet. What I can say is that I’m working on the seventh volume now, and that it’s my intention not to release it until the rest of the story is told. There are a couple reasons for this, and it’s pretty much what I did with this first season (I was writing 5 when 1 released), but the two main ones are that it allows me to make changes when necessary and that I can plan a quicker, more consistent release schedule for readers when the time does come. One every few months, most likely.

Just a heads up for everyone, if you have not already stared Lily, it come in at a whopping 477 pages. So there is going to be a lot of unpacking in this one. I am on page 36 and one question has been answered (view spoiler)[ Mariah is still pregnant! (hide spoiler)] But has introduced an even bigger question(view spoiler)[ Who the heck was buried under the dog in John's back yard?!?!?! (hide spoiler)]

And John has (view spoiler)[practically become a Teddie Bear, what with the burping competition. (hide spoiler)]

I need to finish The Good House. I didn't realize it was so long.

I fugured most people didn't. I have 4 hours of flextime today. I'm doing minimal housework then I'm reading.

My reading speed should get faster as soon as I get done with my pesky job today. Vacation here I come!
I'm planning to spend most of tomorrow and Sunday reading. Hopefully my plan will work out!

Yep, Lily is the climax for all that’s come so far - so she packs a little extra weight. I think of this one as sort of a supersized season finale. It’s not the end of everything, but it puts punctuation on a whole lot.

I did not get much reading done today because my girl came over to let me know her and her husband are having their first baby in January! We are over the moon!!!!!!!!

And your plan is to have another collection of books after Lily? Do you have an idea of how many books will be in the next collection and will this be it?

I'm so excited to get to this next book. Don't do a GRRM and make us wait too long for that next collection of books. ;) hahaha!!

I finished one of our group reads last night, so I'm starting this proper today. I'm very excited, but also afraid.

On the book front I about 1/2 way through(Pg 257). My nerves are jangling.

Daniel, I would like to compliment you on the very fluid and natural way that you are providing confirmation and clarification of many of the outstanding questions in this book. (view spoiler)[Although the letter may have been a bit of an info dump, it is in line with Marshall's character. I was thinking of the confirmation of Trevor's death. Although we do not have all the details, this revelation was done in the natural progression of the story and that is not always easy to do. (hide spoiler)]

Might I suggest that (view spoiler)[This is not going to be a redemption story for John similar to what the Star Wars franchise (the original 6 movies) did with Darth Vader, but is instead a survival story of Marcos in line with Carl in The Walking Dead (The Graphic novels, not the evil TV series who killed Carl off because they are bastards!)I mean, how cool would it be to see Marcos confront the Weeping Boy in a teen boy smackdown! @Char Do not do it until you have finished the book because I discuss where I think the series might be leading. But I will be curious to hear your opinion when you are finished!

I’m about 70% done now, I’m having a hard time putting it down. We’re heading to a baseball game shortly, but if we get back early enough I’ll read some more. I have 2 days of vacation left before going back to work, and I’m hoping to finish this before then.

Once I started reading, I also had trouble stopping.

I'm about to start chapter 4. Enjoying it very much 😃 but reading at a slow pace because of the current heatwave across Europe 🥵 Needless to say your spoilers are very tempting but I shall resist!

Thanks, Marie. I saw information about your heatwave over there, it sounds really bad, especially in Spain.

We had unexpected visitors yesterday afternoon. I am not a fan of the "pop in." Call me first or stay the hell home! I didn't get to read yesterday hardly at all.

Started Lily last night, up to page 75. Loving it but I don't want to read too fast because then it will be over :(

Finally starting this one today. Woohoo!

Same here. When I reached that part I gasped out loud and my husband was like, "What?" I told him what happened but he didn't care. LOL

It wasn't just (view spoiler)[ that Mariah died, but it was the horrific way in which she was killed, choking on a flashlight! It probably says something about me, but I wish the death of the Flashlighters were a little more drawn out and painful. Being run over and dying immediately just did not feel like karmic justice. Damn, I did not realize how bloody-minded I am until I just reread that last sentence. I'm not sure passion brings out my most stellar traits.

(view spoiler)[ I, too, wanted the Flashlighters to eat it in a more painful way.
I loved how Mariah was so brave, hoping to save Marcos. I might have even cried a little bit. Then I thought that Isaac died, but I guess he still might since his condition was so grave at the end. I loved John's brother and I loved how both Mariah and Marshall forgave John and still loved him. I don't know if I could if I were in their situation.

Lastly, I mostly hate happy endings, and I do consider this one happy, in spite of Mariah's death.

And what the hell was up with that demon? WTF was that about? LOL

What's your guess for where the next 6 books are going? Will John continue his trip east with Marcos? Will there be more demons? And what the hell is going on with the sun? (When John was flying Lily and remembering something blue, I originally misread it and thought that he flew over the clouds and the sky was blue!) I wonder if it is or not?
