Jamie | 12271 comments I think I will mostly be reading the GBRs. Lots of series I either wouldn't mind re-reading via audiobook or ones I've been wanting to read. There are so many so unless I dnf a few series' I think that will be most of my month easily.

message 11: by Kay-Mika (new)

Kay-Mika | 1816 comments @Adriana I have read Delilah Green Doesn't Care (Bright Falls, #1) by Ashley Herring Blake and loved it. There is this one sentence in it... just chief's kiss

I was pleasantly surprised, because 1) the Character are around 30 years old
and 2) For being written by an American it is actually very mature.
See, Americans here in Germany (maybe also Europe as a whole) are always seen as thinking in black and white. You either are right or you are wrong. There is no room for compromise.
One of the book's themes is about miscommunication and misinterpretation and both parties admit that they were right and wrong at the same time. And I think, that something like that coming from an American author is very grown-up.

message 17: by Adriana (new)

Adriana | 3733 comments lol. The truth of this statement -> See, Americans here in Germany (maybe also Europe as a whole) are always seen as thinking in black and white. You either are right or you are wrong. There is no room for compromise.

I guess I haven't read that much adult romance to say if that's true or not because I basically just read American published books.

Brooke ♥booklife4life♥ (booklife4life) | 6449 comments I haven't read manga for challenges before so wondering if anyone knows if Spy×Family 3 would work for this challenge or no? It's more than 150pgs but i'm confused by the way it's explained in the challenge rules.

message 24: by Kay-Mika (new)

Kay-Mika | 1816 comments I have just looked them up, and the rules really are a little bit confusing. 🫤
First it says, it's allowed under 'illustrated' conditions and then, that they aren't 🤨

message 25: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 12271 comments I would ask on the main threads with the rules then.

message 26: by Brooke (new)

Brooke ♥booklife4life♥ (booklife4life) | 6449 comments I asked on the main thread, see what they say.

message 27: by Brooke (new)

Brooke ♥booklife4life♥ (booklife4life) | 6449 comments they said they count :) I had a zoom meeting thing all day so I couldn't read any solid books but I'll have 5 mangas done and posted by end my day today so there's that :)

message 30: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina | 76 comments I've never done a buddy read before as I don't really know what's involved! Is it basically if I pick a book that one of you happen to be reading it'll count for more points?

message 31: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina | 76 comments In a bit under the weather so I'm going to start off with audio book :)

message 32: by Kay-Mika (new)

Kay-Mika | 1816 comments @Jamie 🥳

You can either join a preexisting buddy read (there is a thread that has them all listed for the month) or offer to read, or suggest a book to read and if you and at least 1 other person can agree on a book and a date you set up and ask for a thread. You must read the book and engage in conversation with the other person(s) on the buddy read thread for that book. 4 comments minimum and you need to actually reply to what they say (hence the engaging part)

message 34: by Kay-Mika (new)

Kay-Mika | 1816 comments @Jamie Thanks^^ You were faster

@Sabrina: Here is the general Buddy Read request threat:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
And here is the link for the planned Buddy Reads for this month
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/.... Maybe you can find something there and join

Jamie | 12271 comments Jenn wrote: "That series is horrible. I read all of the books and hated myself lol"

I can't imagine trying to read them all. I tried ebook and even audio but couldn't even get 25% through the first one. Might be would a lot of points for the challenge but so not worth enduring! IMO.

message 38: by Kay-Mika (new)

message 43: by Brooke (new)

Brooke ♥booklife4life♥ (booklife4life) | 6449 comments Im just extremely lucky to have a job where i can have headphones in the whole time so getting through audiobooks is crazy easy!

Brooke ♥booklife4life♥ (booklife4life) | 6449 comments posted my 2 that I finished today

message 45: by Adriana (new)

Adriana | 3733 comments I've had a slow start but posted my first review. I want to get more into A Little Hatred and I'll start another middle grade audiobook. I'm off tomorrow so hopefully, I get a lot of reading done.

@Brooke - Are you a 2x speed type of person?

Yep always 2x, sometimes 2.25x depending on the narrator, one of the ARCs i read last month, i had to do 3x and it still sounded too slow to me, idk what was up with that one.

message 47: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 12271 comments I cannot do 2x or faster. Everything sounds too clipped for me. Usually 1.5x is what I can do for audiobooks. I am amazed at the idea of 3x or 4x.

message 48: by Kay-Mika (new)

Kay-Mika | 1816 comments Fingers crossed that my Status Updates count

message 49: by Kay-Mika (new)

Kay-Mika | 1816 comments Does the book even count? It only has 137 pages

message 50: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (tellingmelies) | 9791 comments Mod
It will count as long as it's over 50 pgs. :)

* The minimum page counts needed for both page points and completing descriptions are:
~ Adult/YA without illustrations = 50 pages
