DoveyV | 311 comments Point of Views (aka POVs) are something all books have but every author uses differently. Which POV do you prefer to use? Are there any you struggle with? Or maybe you’re not sure which one to use? Any and all POV related stuff can be discussed here.

Dual POVs between the two love interests
Don't mind me swooning over them!

Jaedon D Kovacs | 120 comments 1st person POV is superior, but I’m not the kind of person to have an issue with 3rd person. I do like dual/multiple POVs too, but the book I’m currently writing is single person :)

Likewise!
OO- how is it for you- do you fully embody that person, as you write?

message 5: by Jaedon D (new)

Jaedon D Kovacs | 120 comments What do you mean by that?

message 6: by Ruqayyah (new)

Ruqayyah | 951 comments Sorry, I meant as do you become that person, as you write or does it feel like you're writing for another person?
That makes no sense lol

message 7: by Jaedon D (new)

Jaedon D Kovacs | 120 comments Haha it makes sense, I just wasn’t sure if that was what you were asking. Hmm I’m not too sure. I think I often feel as though I’m the character, by writing “I” and stuff, but at the same time like not at all. I don’t know how to explain it lol. I guess I put a lot of my own traits into the character and some of theirs will somehow rub off on me — even though I’m creating them lol — but it doesn’t feel like I’m writing about someone else nor does it feel like I’m writing about me…
That was a terrible example of my own writing skills

LOL No, that makes perfect sense because I feel like that too, it's as if they are like an extension to ourselves or something

message 9: by DoveyV (new)

DoveyV | 311 comments yeah you explained that really well! I feel the same way when writing in first person. Almost like you’re writing about an alternate you

message 10: by Allie (new)

Allie | 62 comments That might actually be my problem since I don't connect with my character at all.

So true!

Aww Allie, it's fine- you don't need to always relate to them- if you take a 3rd person approach, you generally will feel like they are completely separate from you.
If you don't connect, think why not?
I'm writing an article for the character building and will hopefully have it soon- which shall help you out. In the mean time, if you need anything, just ask xx

message 13: by Jaedon D (new)

Jaedon D Kovacs | 120 comments Allie if you’re trying to connect with your character, make sure you have a lot of things in common! If you want other people to connect as well, this is probably the simplest way. Maybe it’s a big thing, like your memory is awful or you feel like you’re too selfish, or maybe it’s small, like you love the smell of the ocean or you hate cats.

Check my retreat for more! Just added it

Cool- oh yes tenses are important too- sometimes I find myself switching from them

message 17: by Reagan (new)

Reagan | 34 comments I prefer writing (and reading) in first person. The book I'm currently writing is also dual POV.

message 18: by Ruqayyah (new)

Ruqayyah | 951 comments Oo nice! Dual POV is just lush
