Hilary Mantel, author of the Booker-prize winning Wolf Hall died yesterday of a stroke. She was 70.

I just saw this too. Everyone knows the Wolf Hall trilogy, which is excellent but I was blown away by A Place of Greater Safety. It was her first novel, it's long and dense - about the very young men who were leaders in the French revolution. But once you get into it, it's fascinating. I said at the time it was like "Hamilton" for the French revolution.

Oh, wow! I am a little shocked by this.
