Around the Year in 52 Books discussion

Hello Lovely Librarians! Happy New Year!

I have 2 related requests. My son has self published two books through Amazon. The first shows up in Goodreads, but has "issues". The recent one does not show up, and I'm planning on reading it for our challenge, so it would be handy to be able to have it appear.

The earlier one says it has 4 editions, but two of them are books by other people that happen to have HIS title as part of THEIR title. This can be seen here: https://www.goodreads.com/work/editio...
His only editions are the ones with the simple title "Privatization" by James Sherwood (the two with actual covers displaying).

There are a lot of authors with the same name, which Goodreads doesn't handle well. I've separated out his name using the spaces in name workaround, but he might want to claim his Goodreads author page, and then I think he could manage his own books?

Yes, I’ve suggested that he do the same (separate himself from others with same name) in Amazon. I’ll pass on your suggestion. He’s kind of humble about this. I had to really push to get him to put a little author bio on his first book when I was doing the cover design for him. No bio this time…

Hi, a book I read earlier this year, first published this year, won't let me add it to the "best of 2023" listopia because it's not published during this year. The Sweetest Betrayal by Natalie Mae shows up in my My Books as published in 2023.

I'm not sure what list you're trying to add to? All I can do is update the publication date but that appears to be correct.

Thanks for trying Ellie it didn't change the issue. On the main page of listopia there are 5 lists pinned on the right hand side one of which is the 'Best Books Of 2023'. Oh well.

Goodreads must be getting the date from elsewhere for those lists. I've got a few books on my shelves that are also definitely 2023 but it says they can't be added either.

It usually seems to get corrected by the end of the year but I was impatient. Oh well.

I don't know if this is possible since the books are not available on Amazon. But if it is possible could you please add the following to the Goodreads Data Base:

Sorry, I missed this, I've not been very active on Goodreads due to a new job. Do you still need these adding? Is that the publisher website? I can take info off a publisher site just not other retailers.

Leah, someone has attached that ISBN to the hardback and for some reason Goodreads had stopped allowing librarians to change ISBNs. I don't know why because I have seen so many errors lately. Grr! But I've added the paperback without an ISBN for now.

I read The Fresh Prince Project: How the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Remixed America and in the author info it listed Darkness to Light: A Memoir, Lamar Odom's memoir as the most well know thing that Chris Palmer co-wrote. But Goodreads has a different Chris Palmer listed as the co-author (Chris Palmer).

That book already exists but has a note on it that it doesn't meet the catalog guidelines so I can't do anything about that.

There appear to be several Chris Palmers and all their books are all mixed together. Fixing it properly is probably a job for someone who knows who they are, it looks like at minimum there's a sports one, a wildlife one and a religious one. I've moved Darkness to Light off Wildlife Chris at least.
