How did the elegant, simple, easy to use, Kindle get so hideously complicated? It now requires a deep dive in the menu to find a book I just purchased!

I know this has been creeping up in the recent so-called 'updates' but it exploded for me when I got my new 11th gen Kindle recently. This is my fourth Kindle and I only replaced the last 2018 one because the battery was failing to charge.

When I turned on the new one and logged in my Kindle for the easy transfer of content assured by an email from Amazon, the Kindle was unusable for almost two hours while it downloaded 254 books.

My old Kindle had FOUR unread books and two I was currently reading. After the 'easy' transfer I had 139 unread books and out of the 254, 88 were my OWN books that I had never put on any Kindle and were repeated and duplicated up to ten times! After spending hours trying to clean it up I gave up in frustration. I still have it cluttered up with 110 books I don't want on it and tried every method I can find to to fix it but apparently I'll have to spend another day going and deleting them one by one unless someone has a better suggestion.

Monette Bebow-Reinhard (monettebe) | 61 comments Go to your digital content under your account at Amazon. That's where you can delete ones you no longer want. It's the only way. I'm on my Third Kindle and I think each one has gotten harder to use. I probably won't buy another one. I can read on my laptop or phone.

Monette Bebow-Reinhard (monettebe) | 61 comments Oh don't get me wrong I still use my kindle. But this one is a little harder for me, for some reason I still don't understand. You can try and return, too, they have a good policy on that, I think.

Mellie (mellie42) | 644 comments I got a new kindle paperwhite 11th gen yesterday, and set it up in a few minutes with minimal issues (and with over 400 unread books). The only problem I had was book covers not displaying, and that fixed itself when I restarted once it was connected to the wifi.

Monette Bebow-Reinhard (monettebe) | 61 comments I think that's part of it Mellie, it works better when connected to wifi.

Ed Morawski | 243 comments Mine is and always was connected to very fast wifi. As Monette suggested I went on the web and fixed a lot there - although I found eight books I never bought and 63 'documents' which were actually books I had bought but somehow got listed as documents and not books.

Also on the Amazon content page there is no way to list Unread books only??? I had to go all 254 one by one. Jeesh!

All I can think is there was a major glitch that day. I still don't like the new library structure.
