It's going to made into a movie soon. It will be interesting to see what was done with it.

Valerie | 1 comments The Many Daughters of Afong Moy by Jamie Ford. I read this for a book club meeting. I liked discussing the book more than reading it. Had so much hope this one was going to be so good, but it fell flat for me. Anyone read it and like it?

Just started The Book eaters by Sunyi Dean.

Lucy Littlefield (lucylittlefield) | 1 comments Everything I Never Told You - Celeste Ng

This book will absolutely pull at your heart strings. Ng tells the story with such attention to detail. I left a more full review under the book page itself, but if you are looking for a book that honestly tells the story of sibling relations, the struggles of fitting in, and the experience of loss— this one is it.

message 80: by Lex (new)

Lex McLin-Alidani | 1 comments Just finished “The Other Emily” by Dean Koontz and I’m not sure how I feel about it. I feel like it was two separate stories sewn together to try and mesh. The first 5 parts were all mystery, then the last part had a sci-fi twist with flat ending. It was going well, till about halfway and I stuck with it to see how it ended.

Jessica Mendiola | 4 comments Just finished Read with Jenna's pick, Sam. I wasn't a big fan of how it was written at the beginning, but it evolved with time as the main character aged. I enjoyed it.

Jane | 9 comments I just finished "Kindred" by Octavia E. Butler. I was surprised that I loved it so much. I am not a fan of science fiction/fantasy so I did not think I would enjoy the time travel aspect of the book. The time travel did not bother me at all.

I really liked that series. The second book was my favorite

turningleighpages | 7 comments I just finished The Girls in the Water. Started off really good - almost a bit exciting trying to work out "who did it" but towards the end it just started to fall flat. The plot started to go all over the show and it was a lot of writing for a pretty bland ending. The female characters are meant to be strong but start to unravel and almost become a bit immature.

liliesallover | 7 comments My Year of Rest and Relaxation, and it was surprisingly really good. I tend to be wary of overhyped books since I've been extremely disappointed before, but this one was shockingly quite nice.

message 94: by R♡ (new)

R♡ | 2 comments Daisy Jones & the six. I thought this would be an easy 5 star but unfortunately it was boring most of the time. I just didn't like that the whole book was in this interview kind of style, and that they talked so much about the songs, but it got really good at the end, I shed a few tears

message 95: by Patel (new)

Patel | 1 comments I just finished this and I was sucked right in. Such an intense read in all the right ways. Dark, gothic, romantic, terrifying. The main character gave me serious Wednesday Addams vibes, which I loved because I've been craving more since watching the show lol. The interaction between the 2 main characters gave me life, even though the book centers around death. Not your typical paranormal romance, but can't recommend it enough!
