E Post | 49 comments I have read 18/50 books so may/may not make it to my reading goal, but I am not worried. I've found some not so great books and I've found some AWESOME books. Had unforeseen circumstances happen tis year which resulted in lack of motivation to read and a looonggg reading slump that hopefully I got over :)

Anyways, here's may update:
3. Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica ⭐️⭐️⭐️
this book left lots to be desired, I liked the idea of it far more than I enjoyed reading it. The technology should have been explained more, there was little to no character development, I had no idea why any character was doing anything? what was their motivation?? I almost DNFed, ending was shocking but not worth reading it. Did not understand the hype, I like gore, disturbing, and horror but this bored me. the cover is awesome though.

4. Akata Witch (The Nsibidi Scripts, #1) by Nnedi Okorafor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ AHHHH! this book is AWESOME! I love the author's style, the characters were so great, the magic in this world?, the description of Nigerian food.... OMGOMGOMG. need to read the second book in the series,,, haven't gotten around to it yet;(
5. Daphne by Josh Malerman ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was almost DNF, but I am so glad I stuck with it. It was so scary and the description of mental illness hit close to home, great metaphors.
6. Red Room The Antisocial Network by Ed Piskor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ YIKES! I felt guilty reading this in the library lol. the graphics were CREEEEEPY.
7. I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I read this book slowly, I never wanted it to end. SUCH A GOOD BOOK. deserves the hype and praise it gets, and I feel for Jennette. She's a fantastic writer.
8. Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Overall, the plot was so confusing in the moment but it all came full circle. Most of all though, I loved the little snippets and tidbits sprinkled throughout the book rather than the actual plot and story. There were so many comforting and smart one liners that stuck with me long after I read the book. The movie SLAPS too.
9. Being Heumann An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Activist by Judith Heumann ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I wish this memoir was way longer. Judith... what an amazing human being. Thank you for your advocacy... And I loved the way she included ALL minorities and the battle all minorities must face... Including people of color, disabled folks, the LGBTQ+ community, all of us need to team together! everyone needs to read this. Her, and her team are the reason disabled folks have the rights they should have had in the first place...
more books to post later!

E Post | 49 comments 10. Joan Is Okay by Weike Wang ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I liked this! The main character was unlikable at first but her explanation of her family's expectations of her and her desire to be successful in her career made her more interesting. I loved the one-liners the author came up with.
11. I Remember Beirut by Zeina Abirached ⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was a super quick experience. I liked the unique art although I did not quite follow the story very well... and maybe thats not what matters. Missing something I cant quite tell what...
12. The Body in the Library by Agatha Christie ⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book was so much fun to read! her characters are always hilarious and chaotic. I enjoyed the read during, although I cannot for the life of me remember who did it...
13. Just Like Home by Sarah Gailey ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ THIS BOOK!!!! Loved it from start to finish. every part. the dad was so fascinating... I kept finding myself liking him.... yikes! and the main character...untrustworthy, damaged but learned to accept it. Also helped me through my breakup... to love a monster... could go on and on and on and on about this book! SO GOOD!
14. Coraline by P. Craig Russell ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I liked the unique animation, especially the cat. The other mother SCARED ME SO BAD! My heart nearly fell out of my chest. I liked the movie more though.
15. Hollow Fires by Samira Ahmed ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book was EVERYTHING. YA, romance, girlboss main character, important political commentary, mixed media, diverse characters, so so so so good. Sad its over.
16. A Game for Swallows To Die, To Leave, To Return (Graphic Universe) by Zeina Abirached ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Another graphic novel from this artist... ok.
17. The Name of This Book Is Secret (Secret, #1) by Pseudonymous Bosch ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ MY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ELF IS QUAKING AHHHH THIS BOOOOOK MAKES ME SO HAPPY
18. Have I Told You This Already? Stories I Don’t Want to Forget to Remember by Lauren Graham ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I WANT TO BE HER BEST FRIEND! This book was almost four stars, but the last few chapters/essays really hit home for me. I laughed OUT LOUD which I never do in a memoir, I felt like I was being hugged, it was just so good. TOO SHORT! MORE MORE MORE
OK that's all for now, I am 8 books behind my Goodreads yearly challenge, who knows if I will be able to pick up the pace and complete it... but at this point I do not mind. I have been so enjoying my reading this year. Especially the past month I got out of a reading slump!
