Meli (melihooker) | 4165 comments This is about a 12 year old who's father has passed and he sees him when he wakes from a sleep walking incident. Is his father back? What does he want? From there he keeps trying to recreate the scenario so he can see him again and figure out what brought him back.

It was a little hard to follow sometimes.
I am not sure this is because our narrator is 12, or because the story ties into indigenous folklore, but by the end I wasn't sure what the hell happened.

I will still read anything by Jones. He tells unsettling, unique horror stories. A great voice in the genre not to be missed!

If you read this, please explain to me what happened 🤣

Cora (corareading) | 1921 comments I read this a long time ago (5 years ago) and I don't remember the details enough to explain it, but I do have the impression that one of the things I liked about it was the reader was never really sure how much of the ghost/spirit encounters are real and how much of it is in the boy's mind and that it could be interpreted either way.

Meli (melihooker) | 4165 comments That is true, I felt that way as well! Especially the incident under the house with the dogs.

Meli (melihooker) | 4165 comments I liked the thread about the younger brother. That was sad :(

He's a great writer, I just struggled with this book a bit.
