We should totally use more of our yields and u-turns and stuff! I can probably find something for the U-turn this week if we want to do that

Worth checking. One was used last week msg 126 but no idea who by.

Sounds good. We only get one a month from my knowledge.

Hello all!
It has come to my attention that I forgot to count a second yield being used in Week 3's check in - my apologies!! That being said, I'm counting it now -
*A Yield was used against Backroad Bandits. Lost 20 bonus points. Will be added to score update today. Shadow Sprinters have no more Yields available for the rest of this month.

Roadblocks begin at line #225 on the spreadsheet tab. There’s about 6 spell-outs available - please let me know if you need more.

If you start a spell-out and don't complete it, you will be penalized by 5 bonus points per uncompleted word.MĀORI: ✤ MĀORI ✤Māori (Māori: [ˈmaːɔɾi], or te reo Māori ('the Māori language'), also known as te reo ('the language'), is an Eastern Polynesian language spoken by the Māori people, the indigenous population of mainland New Zealand.
Yield: Each team will have up to 3 yield opportunities (once per month). After the task has been revealed and read for, the team will then decide who to use their 'Yield' against. By yielding, you will be taking away 20 bonus points from that team.Today, the majority of New Zealand's population of 5.1 million is of European descent; the indigenous Māori are the largest minority, followed by Asians and Pacific Islanders. Reflecting this, New Zealand's culture is mainly derived from Māori and early British settlers, with recent broadening of culture arising from increased immigration. The official languages are English, Māori, and New Zealand Sign Language, with the local dialect of English being dominant. If you want to use your yield this week - please read for the following:Read a book that someone else on your team rated 5 stars (please tell me who) and the main character is a minority
Intersections: This will be a buddy read related task. Meaning you will have to work with someone new (whether on your team or another) and read a book together. The buddy can also be someone in the group but not participating in the challenge. You will need to have at least 4-5 comments per buddy read.Read a book with someone new within the group. BOTM can also count for this task. This can be repeatable.
U-Turns: Just like the yield task, each team will have up to 3 U-turn opportunities (once per month). After the task has been revealed and read for, the team will then decide who to use their 'U-turn' against. By forcing another team into a U-turn, you will be taking away 10 bonus points from that team. The first European visitor to New Zealand, Dutch explorer Abel Tasman, named the islands Staten Land, believing they were part of the Staten Landt that Jacob Le Maire had sighted off the southern end of South America. Hendrik Brouwer proved that the South American land was a small island in 1643, and Dutch cartographers subsequently renamed Tasman's discovery Nova Zeelandia from Latin, after the Dutch province of Zeeland. This name was later anglicised to New Zealand. If you want to use your U-turn this week - please read for the following:Read a book with a title that has a double vowel in it. [It must be the same letter and be intact.] (ex: Nova Zeelandia) and has the word 'EXPLORER' found in text (pg/% & quote)

For example, 'Red hair on cover (any book edition will count)' or 'Published in January (any year)'.Read a book where the main character has at least one pet
Switchback: This will also be revealed after check-in days and will be a task related to where the team was previously.
Italy covers an area of 301,230 km2 (116,310 sq mi), with a population of about 60 million. It is the third-most populous member state of the European Union, the sixth-most populous country in Europe, and the tenth-largest country in the continent by land area.Read a book that is either #3, #6 or #10 in a series

I didn't get much reading done this week, sorry team! Been real busy with school stuff. But I can definitely do the check in tomorrow

I think we should be ok. I need to check the lawyers list and will finish 2 tomorrow.

Ok, then I guess we just check-in like normal and see if we can do any yields or u-turns this week

You all checked in! Here are the results for bonus points -
1. Coast Busters - 30 pts
2. Shadow Sprinter - 20 pts
3. Backroad Bandits - 10 pts
Yields & U-Turns are back in play!
Winners were chosen via list randomizer and bonus points were decided in a wheel decide (other options were - 20,10,0; 30,15,5; 20,10,5).
Bonus points will be added in your next score update. Points are awarded for the whole team - not individually. Also, tasks for Speed Bumps and Switchback will be revealed tomorrow.
See you all in New Zealand tomorrow 😊

Thinking about it more, I don't think I'll manage one this week, either.

Got Noy checked in and sent a PM to the following - Hayley, Miss, Michael & Leka - to check in :)

I just can't keep up and probably signed up for too many overall and I can't keep up with those either. It's been a rough couple of months.
