It has some features I like, but I cannot stand how confusing the email threads get. There are other things i don't like, but I cannot remember what they are right now.🤔

I thought you had to pay for ProtonMail? I mean we do pay for Gmail, too. Google has the right to read any of your emails at any time in order to sell your data to advertisers. No email service is free.
iCloud email is end to end encrypted, like iMessages, and Apple doesn’t read your emails :) One downside is Apple only offers 5GB of free storage, but 50GB only costs 99¢ a month.
Sharon, you might look into iCloud and see if you like it. It’s free to set up and you can even automatically forward all your Gmails to your iCloud. That way you can test it for awhile and see if you’d like to permanently switch. That’s what I’m doing at the moment.

Good idea, Stephen. I looked at Proton, and 1 address is free. You pay for more. I have a few different email addresses, so proton is out for me. Do you know if one can have multiple icloud addresses? I like the privacy element. Google will take over the world if we let it!

I just realized that I have four email accounts, lol- two Gmail accounts (one is school account for my new college and one for "important" things like Amazon and actually sending emails), one through Outlook (the account from my previous school), and one iCloud email (that I use for low-priority things like Goodreads and subscribing to author newsletters).
Out of the three services, I prefer Gmail- I like the fact that it organizes emails into the main inbox/social/promotions categories, so my main inbox isn't cluttered up with irrelevant notifications from LinkedIn or whatever. I also like the way the user interface is designed.
I've used my iCloud account for applying to scholarships and so unfortunately it gets a lot of spam- however, it's pretty good at recognizing spam and automatically tossing it in the junk folder. I have iCloud+ (it became a necessity due the fact that nearly all my devices are Apple), so one benefit of that is that if I'm subscribing to something, I have the option of hiding my email, so I get the emails without giving away personal information.
I ended up hating Outlook after my school started using OneLogin, which made it incredibly hard to log into Microsoft services because they wanted to make it more "secure." I had to re-login to Word and Powerpoint all of the time.
I haven't heard of ProtonMail before this thread, so I don't have any opinions about it :P
I have no idea if any of this information is helpful, but this has just been my experience :)

On its website, ProtonMail says, "We will always offer a free email plan for anyone who needs it."

I am not sure what kind of info you are looking for. I have received a couple of arcs from authors looking to promote their books. I have subcribed to their newsletters and heard about the opportunity that way. I have seen several opportunities for arcs on Instagram too. Is that the kind of info you were looking for?

If you use the app, go to your Want to read, and then click on your reading challenge and then click on edit right under your goal! That should do it!

oh thanks! I was using the website this time XD
So, on my app (iPhone), I have a friend request I want to ignore. I click on the red X, and it tells me an error occurred. When I go to the website, I see NOTHING about this friend request.
This happened once before, and the only way I could get rid of it was to accept the friend request.
Anyone have any ideas for how I can ignore this request? (Outside of accepting and then unfriending?)

Ugh! Do you have an android or iPhone? Never had this with my old android.

Hopefully, it's just a glitch that Goodreads will work out soon.
And now I am not getting notifications when people reply to my comments.🤦🏽♀️ I am not ignoring y’all. GR can be so frustrating!

Hey Elisa! If you still need help with this, you might want to repost on the General Chat thread. I am not sure if people check this thread unless they are looking for help using Goodreads. (Or want to give help to someone needing help. But it is here for people who need some help with the use of the site or app.)😊💜

Same. I just went through a Louisa May Alcott phase where I read all of her classics again because I didn’t feel like reading anything else.

Hey Bella! I have tried to figure that out before and couldn’t. You can make comments on your updates, which is easier from the app.
Also, you may not have messed up your spoilers. Sometimes, depending on what device you are using and whether it is the app or the website, the spoilers will show. Oh, and spoilers don’t work on the android app—they will be hidden on the iPhone app, but visable to android users.🤷♀️

Does anyone know how to edit your feed so that when you comment in a group it won't appear in your feed?
To remove non exclusive shelves (on a computer), go to 'My Books' at the top of the website. And then at the top of your list of bookshelves there is an edit button by the line 'Bookshelves'. Click the edit button and then you should just be able to click the x to the left of the bookshelf you want to delete
If I want to read a book that I already read, how do I mark it as "want to read" again without removing it from my "read" folder?

From the website:
Go to your My Books page and click edit. Create a shelf entitled something like "tbr-again" or "to reread" and make sure the "Exclusive" box is not checked. This enables you to have one title on more than one shelf.
I hope that is helpful!

@Becky—On the website, there is a clickable link above the comment box: “Add book/author” ( or something close to that). You click that, search for the book, choose link or cover, then click add.
I find the link to be a better option as on some phone apps, the covers don’t always show up if you do more than one. Also, the covers can be blurry and hard to read. Sometimes you have to click on them to see what the title is.

Thanks! I guess I just wasn't seeing that button. Hahaha Sometimes I feel so OLD and out of time. :/
Well, if it makes you feel better, before I was a mod, I suggested this thread because I needed help with using GR myself!🤭
I haven't. Have you heard of ProtonMail, though? People keep saying it's really good.
