Lauren Koetting | 4 comments When I started writing, I never intended for the final work to be religious in nature, but such was the direction it took, and even now after having published my novel (Grace of Demons: The Devil's Eve) last summer, I am still both amazed and humbled by the experience.

My book is an epic-length novel about a protagonist who discovers she is an incarnation of Satan's spirit. Having been raised Catholic, however, she struggles with the apparent contradiction of her spiritual nature and her human faith. Ultimately, she must decide whether to pursue goodness or to embrace evil.

The novel is a work of fiction (not theology), but its prevailing themes are God's infinite mercy and the active role we must take in choosing good over evil in our daily lives. Good fiction, however, must reflect our reality, and temptation and sin are realities for us. Thus, my novel contains much darkness, which can make certain readers, particularly Christian readers, uncomfortable. But if we are to be light in the darkness, we must acknowledge the presence of that darkness, and we must be unafraid to permeate it.

Please visit my author page for more information on the book, and I welcome you to follow or friend me here on Goodreads! As a new author with no other social media presence, I would love to build a following here and engage with both readers and other writers.
