Nick | 4 comments I’m looking for a specific printing of The Wild Swans because of its illustrations. I would have read it in the early/mid 90’s in Indiana. Probably from a scholastic book fair. The book was slim and paperback. The plot followed the basic beats of a girl tasked with silently weaving shirts of nettles in order to free her brothers from their curse of turning into swans.

The illustrations stuck out to me because it was intricate watercolor + line work in the style of an illuminated manuscript. Nettle patterns would be in columns around the text in addition to illustrated scenes from the story. I’m pretty sure the girl had black hair. I’m wondering if its the book illustrated by Susan Jeffers, but I can’t find any samples of the pages inside.
