This book translates to "Location Unknown" which I am assuming is Lahiri's "Unaccustomed Earth. I checked with a friend who speaks Japanese and she believes it is the same book.

However, when I go to combine it, it is not listed as a possible book to combine. Is this because the first name listed is the Japanese rendering of her name?

Is there any sort of protocol on the rendering of author's names into another language's script? It seems to be causing a problem here.

Yes. Switch the English name to the first position.
