Pony Xaviors (ponyxaviors) | 388 comments Alright guys, I'm looking for some book recommendations. Could anyone suggest books to me that contain strong sibling dynamics/relationships as a major plot point? I'd prefer Young Adult, but New Adult or Adult is okay too provided it dives deep enough into the characters' emotions and psychologies. Beyond that, I'm comfortable with any genre.
It doesn't matter what combination of siblings either - two siblings, a group, any combination of genders. They also don't have to necessarily be blood related. Adopted siblings, step-siblings, chosen family, etc. is all fine as long as the relationship between them is clearly defined as siblings and nothing else. It's also cool if they start off with a rough relationship, so long as it improves as the story progresses.
I hate whenever I read a book and it starts out with a good, strong sibling dynamic then one of the siblings gets a love interest and it completely overshadows the sibling relationship. So that's why I'm specifically requesting siblings as a main plot point.
Thank you so so much in advance!

(By the way, stand-alone, trilogies, series, are all okay.)

Thank you, Valerie! Those both look interesting!

Alyssa Giebink I'm reading the Zodiac Academy right now and there are many characters within each of the books that have strong sibling bonds.
The two main characters are twins that have an incredible sibling dynamic that develops as the series continues. I would also like to say, that this book series is also a found family.

Aleksander | 129 comments its adult, but the main characters are in their early 20s: Red, White & Royal Blue both main characters have siblings and their relationships are an important part of the story

Howl’s Moving Castle. again, main characters' relationship to their siblings is crucial

Icebreaker by A.L. Graziadei. Mickey's relationship with his sisters is strong and a huge part of his character

also adult, but A Marvellous Light and A Restless Truth (first one centers on the brother, second one on the sister)

Peg and Rose Solve a Murder by Laurie Berenson. (They're sisters-in-law).

Both books are aimed at adults.

Pony Xaviors (ponyxaviors) | 388 comments Aleksander - Thank you :) I've been hearing a lot about Red, White & Royal Blue lately. It seems to be pretty popular. I didn't realize it had a sibling theme involved. I actually recently read Casey McQuiston's I Kissed Shara Wheeler, which wasn't quite my cup of tea, but Red, White & Royal Blue seems to be better liked by readers.
Also! I remember my sister watching the anime movie version of Howl’s Moving Castle when we were kids. I don't think I consciously realized it was a book first. I also just noticed that the author is the same one who wrote The Merlin Conspiracy, which I recall my dad reading before. Thank you for your suggestions :)

Pony Xaviors (ponyxaviors) | 388 comments Gillian - Thank you! I've had Little Women on my Want To Read shelf for a while now, and your suggestion reminded me that I really should get to reading it soon, lol.
Peg and Rose Solve a Murder sounds like a very different genre from my usual reads, which is something I've also been looking for lately (reading outside my box). Thank you again!

Knight | 3 comments I love this question as it is making me realize I gravitate towards stories of strong sibling connection. I have a few that I have read this year :
Folklorn
A Song Below Water
In the Lives of Puppets
Where the Line Bleeds
The House in the Cerulean Sea

In my opinion, the book of Howl's Moving Castle is a lot better and a lot more fun, so I definitely recommend! As for Casey McQuiston, I haven't read any of their other books but I really did enjoy RW&RB and it does seem to be the most well liked of theirs

A Wrinkle in Time (and the whole series following those siblings) is a great sibling book! I am adding some of your other suggestions to my read list!

It's been years since I read it, but I think Feed by Mira Grant would work for this too.

The Bad Beginning and Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 1 are two of my favorite series, and I actually just got done reading The Red Pyramid recently. But I've not heard of hardly any of your other suggestions - thank you so much!

Anything set in Ireland sounds like a winner to me! And Feed also sounds really interesting. Thank you!
