I'm reading it before the Lymond Chronicles because I'm off to Bruges this weekend, and it's set there at the peak of Bruges' influence :) I assumed it'd be good based on your devouring of the other series - will totally blame you if I hate it! ;-P

Apparently there are factions within the fans of DD.

The GR friends who adore the Lymond series told me they couldn't read Niccolò or gave up after a few books. Other fans are swearing that the Lymond books are not a patch on the Niccoló ones.

I am curious how/whether I am going to like them or not.

(actually, I almost gave upon the 1st Lymond book. I tried to read it last year and stopped at 30% or so. TTX gave me a new push and I am totally happy that it did. I am totally in love with those books now. I can't remember any other books having such a hold over me since the Night Watch series. ;)

Dang! I am listening to The Scarlet Pimpernel, am nearing the end without an effing swashbuckling in sight. Aargh! (it is a reread, but maybe I remember more about the films, hence my mistake in thinking there were some sword usage.)
