4. Hans Christian Anderson (April 2) - Fairy tale author Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) was born in Odense, Denmark. He created 168 fairy tales for children including the classics The Princess and the Pea, The Snow Queen and The Nightingale. Read a book that is a re-telling of a fairy tale, or a story that takes place in Denmark or read any YA book, or a book with a child/children in it.
5. Reconciliation Day (April 2) - Reconciliation Day is a special day to patch relationships and to make amends. Its intention is to re-establish relationships between family, friends and couples. Life is too short to hold a grudge between those we love. Read a book where there is reconciliation between the two main characters or a story where enemies turn to lovers or friends to lovers.
6. Look Up at the Sky day (April 14) - How often do you look upwards? Look Up at the Sky Day encourages you to stop for a moment, and to appreciate the beautiful blue sky, fluffy clouds and elegant, soaring birds… Read a book that has a picture of a blue sky, fluffy clouds or soaring birds on the cover or has the word 'blue' or 'sky' in the title.
7. Titanic (April 15) On April 15, 1912, in the icy waters off Newfoundland, the luxury liner Titanic with 2,224 persons on board sank at 2:27 a.m. after striking an iceberg just before midnight. Over 1,500 people drowned while 700 were rescued by the liner Carpathia which arrived about two hours after Titanic went down. Read a Historical Romance, or a book with a sailor, captain or seafarer MC, or a book with a boat/ship on the cover.
8. Take a chance day (April 23) Life is filled with risks. To get what you want, sometimes you have to take a chance. And, today is created to do just that. So take that chance a read a book by a new to you author.
9. Hug an Australian Day (April 26). Go ahead and give a big bear hug to any and all Australians today. Read a book by an Australian author or a story that takes place in Australia, or read a book with a couple embracing on the cover.
