Just started today! On chapter 5 and currently VERY intrigued with the dark romance vibes. Who doesn’t love a fling between a 16 year old witch and a 324 year old vampire?! 😅
Okay - I just finished the book and I was decently impressed. I do think there could have been more added to the backstory/ world building, but I genuinely enjoyed reading it!

I definitely recommend checking out trigger warnings though as this is your typical unhealthy fucked up gothic romance lol.
The mmc’s personality reminded me so much of Mark Pellegrino’s character on Supernatural. Don’t wanna say his name as it would spoil the book.
And the whole Vessels concept reminded me a lot of Anne Rice (the vampire origin stories in queen of the damned - demons possessing humans and needing blood to sustain themselves).
I loooooved it.
I am so glad I’ve only discovered this book now that the next book is out because I don’t think I could have handled the cliffhanger!

i see a lot of mixed reviews about this one, but surprisingly i fell towards the crowd that enjoyed it?? i feel like it lacked a bit in world building.. nothing really interesting happens for a whole chunk of the book tbh.. but even then, the story kept me entertained enough that i finished reading it pretty quickly. i liked the back & forth tension between mc &fmc… wish their relationship (or lack of) was built up more. the story definitely picked up more towards the later half and wow!!
honestly, the ending was predictable.. but my mind didn’t even predict it until i read it. i just wanna know what happens next. excited to read the cursed :)

I know it’s a harsh opinion, but it was not advertised as it should be, I don’t like that most of the spicy scenes were without any consent… sorry but in this setting it was just sad. Oh, and the inner monologues? Thought process of basically ancient vampire that sounded like a 15 year old boy that discovered porn.
Another flaw - complete lack of of world building. How am I supposed enjoy a FANTASY book without good magic system and any word building… and the same thing goes for characters - most of them were boring, not memorable whatsoever.
Please don’t settle for books that bad, girls (and boys and nonbinary folks!). If it’s the spicy books you looking for, I have many MANY good recommendations, that will actually be worth reading.

I’m pretty sure it’s one of those reads that is supposed to make you feel mad at the end but you still want to see if it changes in the next book. I honestly don’t know how to explain how I felt by the end. I didn’t know if I was happy or if I was angry as to why it took that twist in the plot.
Overall I will have to read the next book to see if my perspective changes on the relationship and also the plot.

I am one of the few who did enjoy the first one but the second one just didn’t do it for me. And I will not be continuing the series.
I’d say it’s not worth it.

Ooo I also dnf What Lies Beyond the Veil…. Agreed that maybe her writing style isn’t 100% for me. Personally, I need more… ✨razzle dazzle✨

I got through the first 2 book of What lies beyond the veil and that was a struggle and I am not gonna lie I skipped some of the 3rd book. I read these after I read the COVEN.

I did read book 2 and it felt like it just got worse. Hopefully the 3rd can redeem the series?
