Elon | 1966 comments I just added a author with hungarian name convention. That is, Family name first, then Given name, not the other way around. So, how do I write the author name on Goodreads?

I couldn't find anything in the forum, manual och via google.

On the book, and at the publisher's, the name is written "Barnai Brigitta CJ", but my (unsure) interpretation is that it should be written Brigitta Barnai C.J. or possibly Brigitta C.J. Barnai?

I cannot find the book in "This topic is about", probably because it's too newly added, but it's this one: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

Javier (palchetti) | 30430 comments I'm not hungarian (nor I know the language) but the CJ may refer to the title used by the sisters of the Congregatio Jesu (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congreg...) - I think it should be removed from the author's name.

Yes, based on news stories mentioning her CJ = Congregatio Jesu.

It was discussed here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

From that thread Firstname Lastname seems most common.
Maybe an exception to be made when an author is only published in Hungarian to use Lastname Firstname?

If an exception is made, care should be taken that the sort-by and shelf-display names are filled in correctly.

(But I personally would add it Firstname Lastname. The only logical exception I see is for Chinese names.)

I'll go with that for now then, at least. Thank you.

Thank you. I tried cross-referencing the "CJ" to some extent, but obviously not enough. I'm not familiar with the suffix either. I'll remove them from the author profile then!
