yes it is slow burn. even I was scared of getting disappointed at first because everyone was saying it's so good so I had high expectations at first, but it turned out really really good and worth the hype

I feel like you have to read both books before you can judge whether it holds up to expectations

I haven't read the main series but even without reading it I still enjoy this series alot!! I like reading each characters POV while your reading and just love how it one heist after the other! however at the end of the second book it was def hard to finish it just cause it was so sad!
