Ann (annrumsey) | 16933 comments Barry, thanks! The link works for me as well. The books from the 1800’s and from the 20th century work for some of us as ideas for before we were born determination lists! Lol

GailW (abbygg) | 523 comments I'm bored. So I counted how many of these I read or have to read:

Read 30
Have 8
Want about 4

Not a great percentage, but some of those listed I will NEVER read (uhm, Micky Spillane is definitely not my cup of tea...)

Ann (annrumsey) | 16933 comments Tana French's introductory essay on the types of mysteries is fascinating and so true. Sometimes I just need to read a mystery for the order of it, the concrete facts and the resolution where justice is served. Now the wild mysteries she speaks of also call me, and sometimes those are rich and exciting experiences to read. I am glad we have both.

I think I have read 24 of them. Thanks for sharing the list Barry. I saw a couple I had heard of and didn't realize they were considered mystery / thrillers. Wil have to go seek them out.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16933 comments Rachel Howsell Hall's essay is also full of interesting authors and facts that this diverse genre has to offer. I see several I already know and have enjoyed and many more to try. Here's to great books to read in 2024.
