N. Slater | 15 comments I have two titles by the same name, one was kindle vella and then removed to publish on KDP. I merged the books because they are the same. However, they were recently unmerged because the vella one was an excerpt.

I dont fully understand why i cant merge them as different editions because they are the exact same book. Is it because one of them says excerpt? If i change the title, will that solve the issue? I would really not like to have two titles on page like that because people will get confused possibly when writing reviews.

Its this one: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

Liralen | 8223 comments If one of them is an excerpt and the other is the full book, they wouldn't count as the same book and should not be combined—one of them contains substantially more material than the other. Having 'Excerpt' in the title should help prevent confusion.

N. Slater | 15 comments I guess I'm just confused because one of them used to be the full book but now no longer exists (the vella version)
I had originally put 'excerpt' on it while waiting for Amazon to take down the chapters but now can't change it because the story no longer exists.
So I just have to have them as separate pieces?

Liralen | 8223 comments When you say that it used to be the full book, do you mean that it contained the exact same material that the KDP version has, or that it was published as a full book but you expanded it into what is now the KDP version?

N. Slater | 15 comments It used to be the full book that is now on KDP but I put excerpt as Vella was taking down my chapters per the 60 day rule. I just wasn't able to change it before the book became unavailable.
