Horror Aficionados discussion

I recently read a book, possibly from seeing it in this group, and I cannot for the life of me remember the title.

It was about an author who gets a bad review from a critic, and he sees the man at a cafe and approaches him. The critic calls him a "hack" and is all weird, long story short, he attacks him and his family. I don't really want to spoil the ending....

Any help?
