Teri-K | 1078 comments I have Heidi on my reread list for 2024 - I remember it fondly and I'm planning on rereading several children's classics next year. I also really like The Saturdays and The Borrowers - I'm a big children's lit fan in general. Good luck on your challenges and enjoy your books!

Good luck with your challenges. I remember The Pillars of the Earth being huge, but a real page turner. Have a good year.

Audiobook

I can definitely understand why this was so controversial when it was published in 1899 since its about a woman not doing her "duty" as a wife and mother and attempting to put herself first.
"Self care" before it was acceptable for a woman. However, I did find Edna very hard to identify with and felt a lot of her feelings were indulgent and selfish. And that ending..... so tragic but I didn't feel as bad as I thought I would for Edna.

Parable of the Sower (Earthseed, #1) by Octavia E. Butler

Book

I swear, between this and Kindred, Octavia Butler is a real-life time traveler. How she managed to write this book in 1993 about the slow end of the world that begins in.... ummmm... 2024.....

This book was SO good but man was it bleak. Highly recommended and I cannot wait to read the follow up!
