Sue | 2719 comments I love a good mix of imaginative, experimental short stories.

The author took off in a bunch of directions, mostly exploring isolation, loneliness, relationships with God or other higher powers.

In one of my favorites, a many accidentally buys God's overcoat in a thrift shop. Almost immediately he begins to find people's prayers written on little slips of paper in his pockets - and in some cases he attempts to answer those prayers where he can.

John Warner (jwarner6comcastnet) | 97 comments One of my favorite books by Kevin Brockmeier is The Brief History of the Dead. All who die go to the City. You stay there as long as someone remaining on Earth remember you. When all forget, you disappear. I still find this book haunting today.
