rofesta (readingrosetta) | 17 comments Hello everyone!

I am looking for books like TOG, meaning books that are fantasy and focused on the storyline without everything being about the spice. I am getting so sick and tired of getting into these books and having every single chapter about the smut, it's exhausting. Don't get wrong, I love spice but when it's appropriately placed in a book which I found has been TOG.

I just wrote that in my CC2 review about the smut! It is getting to be a little too much for me personally.

Sadly, I already read the first two but I just added Honey & Ice to my TBR!! Thank you for the recommendation, it looks really good.

Um, are you inside of my mind??
That is EXACTLY why I was not really into CC2 and now not really excited about CC3. But of course after the teaser I have to read it.......

Sara Should it have a heavier aspect of romance or not? Cause if not I would have some recommendations. I really like Tolkien (lord of the rings), Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn, Stormlight), Pierce Brown (Red Rising -> SciFi), John Gwynne (faithful and the fallen) and I am currently reading Babel by RF Kuang which seems like it could be a 5 star too. But most of them have very little to no romance and are fantasy book (and sci-fi) with more complex world building

Deep down in my heart, I gotta have some sort of romance lol. It definitely doesn't need to be heavy. But I'm starting to realize that there is no JUST romance in fantasy, because it always equals the over spice... So i'll definitely be adding your req's to my list. Thank you!

Aila | 31 comments It’s only one book so far but I really enjoyed The Jasad Heir. Lots of similarities with ToG but enough differences to keep me happy, and a Egyptian inspired fantasy world was def different.

If you’re looking for fantasy outside of the YA label and a good step away from “Romantasy smut”. Stuff like Robin hobb’s liveship traders, Neil gaiman’s stardust are a few books/series I always reread. For some more urban fantasy, Anne bishops the others series.

I just wanted to say I started (65% finished lol) The Jasad Heir and you killed the req. This book has been so good and reminds me so much of TOG, but with the perfect amount of changes to keep it fresh. My hero!!!!

Lauren | 3 comments Kingdom of Lies series. Just finished the third book and I am SO hooked. Their love in this book will be a part of my soul ❤️😭 I also loved the ToG series and am so happy I randomly came across this series. I don’t think it’s getting enough hype!
