Teresa (tschinkerl) | 3 comments Guys, I need your help. I'm so confused.

So I bought the ACOTAR books because I want to be part of the hype, then I get videos on my TikTok fyp about teh throne of Glass series and "hwo to read it".

Now I don't knwo how I should go on once I get the series (I know it's ridiculous, I'm not even finished with the first series and am already freaking out about the next one).

What's your opinion, chronological order with Assassin's blade 1st, 3rd or 4th? I heard reading it 4th will destroy you emotionally, which I love how some books can do that. But 3rd is supposedly also a good version.

Does anyone have suggestions?

Sethanic | 14 comments I read it chronologically. From my perspective, if i read Assasin’s Blade 3rd, some things in the first and second book will make you go ‘what?’ ‘Wait who?’ ‘What is this trauma about’ ‘what happened? what do you mean?’

As someone who’s easily annoyed by this a.k.a cliffhanger-type of feeling / being left in the dark type of feeling— that’s the main reason i decided to go with chronological order. AB-TOG-COM-HOF-QOS-Tandem Reading EOS & TOD-KOA.

But if you have more patience in you, I’d say; the original publishing order is great too. It really will rip your heart out because you (supposedly 2 books in) connected with Calaena already, and you finally get to understand what actually happened to her, till she ended up where she were. You will get to feel her pain and joy and other emotions more deeply.

So it really up to you at the end of the day! Sarah J. Maas herself recommended publishing order. But if you don’t like the two feeling i said, there’s nothing wrong with tesding it chronologically

Teresa (tschinkerl) | 3 comments Thank you! :)

I'm getting in as many opinions as possible, I'm so torn between reading AB 3rd or 4th. I only get one chance at reading it for the first time. ':D

♥︎ Heather ⚔ (New House-Hiatus) (boston730) | 2 comments I second Sethanic's advice. I was told to read it after HOF and it was horrible. I didn't end up reading it until last bc the story picks up and leaves you on a cliffhanger... I did NOT want to go back in time to a prequel which is what AB is. It makes the most sense to read it first for the timeline to flow

adrianna | 3 comments Im half way through the TOG series. i started with assassins blade and I’m sooo glad that I did

message 6: by Sethanic (new)

Sethanic | 14 comments Oh i forgot! If you do start with Assasin’s Blade first, you will think the book is boring. It’s a prequel, nothing much going on. So stay strong and push through! Pretend like it’s a world building part of a thicker book hahahaha

Maegan (maadreads) | 22 comments I third Sethanic's reading order. I was bored during AB, but I knew it was worth it to gather all the information in there, so I pushed through.
For the tandum, I found it easiest to look up the reading order and use numbered tabs to mark each section before I started reading.

Teresa (tschinkerl) | 3 comments Ugh, I struggle with it harder the more I read the comments. xD I'm fully prepared to read it 4th, but I'm questioning if 3rd is my better option. Thank you all so much for your opinion (I hope you all can see this btw). I will have a lot of thinking to do after I finish ACOTAR. :')

F.Europa | 4 comments I chose to read AB 3rd and it utterly destroyed me. Lol I recommended to other friends to read it 3rd and it destroyed them too. 🙈 Soooo much so, it took a few of us about a week or so before we could continue reading to HOF. Had to take a mental/emotional break.

To each their own though! I can see how reading it 1st would set a foundation for the story of Celaena…but reading it the way I did. I already super loved Celaena just by reading the first 2, it left you wondering about her past and what happened to her to shape her this way.

There are moments where they mention her past so you go into AB knowing it buttttt it distresses you throughout BECAUSE you know what is going to happen. It made AB more excruciating (in the best way) to read for me because of this knowledge you’re given after reading the first 2 books.

Just noticed this...I read it third. I tried to read it first but it kind of jumped right in and I didn't care about any of those people yet, so I had a hard time. So I set it aside and read the first two books. By then I definitely cared! So I picked it back up and got way more out of it. My recommendation is always first if you can, otherwise no later than third. Don't skip it. The series is much richer for having read it.
