I will nominate His Jilted Bride by Rose Gordon

message 3: by Olivia (new)

Olivia (not_the_olivia) | 20 comments I'd like to nominate The Bride Goes Rogue by Joanna Shupe.

message 4: by Mariana (new)

Mariana | 2692 comments I LOVE His Jilted Bride by Rose Gordon!!! I know not everyone enjoys her writing as much as I do, but I hope this gets picked.

message 5: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 1395 comments I'll nominate: The Perfect Duchess (The Macalisters, #1) by Erica Taylor and
The Seduction of an English Scoundrel (Boscastle, #1) by Jillian Hunter

I haven't read these books in 10 years so I hope they are as good as I remember them to be

message 6: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) | 2674 comments I can't think of any books to nominate except a Meredith Duran (Wicked Becomes You), which is out because we already have a Duran read coming up. I don't have a GR shelf for 'Jilted', and although I'm sure I've read a few, I just can't recall them. Oh well, it will be interesting to see what others nominate.

message 7: by Oleander (new)

Oleander | 268 comments All of my jilted themes are in contemporary romances, but I am interested in one of the books that has been nominated. Hopefully there will be a few more.

This is a tough theme.

My second nomination is An Earl in Wolf's Clothing by Emily Windsor

It is about a broken 'amost betrothal' which I think kind of fits the theme

message 9: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) | 2674 comments :( I found a couple of Laura Lee Guhrke books I want to read that fit the theme, but she also is on the 'no' list. Darn.
(FYI the books are Wedding of the Season and Trouble at the Wedding.)

BTW, does anyone remember which Laura Lee Guhrke book we read as a BOTM back in September last year? Guhrke is listed above, but I can't see her book on the group bookshelf for Sep 2023 for some reason??

Jan - it was "How to Lose a Duke in 10 days".

i am almost tempted to let Laura Lee Guhrke be nominated - she wrote mamy books with this theme....and there are not many noms so far
Thoughts anyone?

Thank you, Susan. I wonder why it's not showing along with the other Sep 2023 books when I look on the group bookshelf? One of those annoying little computer things I guess. Oh well, never mind.

As for including LLG for this month's noms, I don't mind either way really. I will probably read the two books I mentioned anyway at some point. It's true there aren't many noms. I count 5 so far. Maybe we'll get more noms. Or maybe that's enough to vote on anyway? What do other members think?

Merry (jewelhound) | 856 comments I just finished Gilded Cage (Lilywhite Boys, #2) by K.J. Charles and the character is kinda jilted. But I do tend to be very loosey goosey with my definitions. I really liked it but if there was a bunch of suggestions I wouldn't nominate it.

message 13: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 1395 comments I don't have the link but Goodreads has a "left at the alter" list. I found several books for this category.

Examples:
Bride for a Night by Rosemary Rogers
The Bad Luck Bride by Janna MacGregor
Jilting the Duke by Rachel Miles
A Duke in Shining Armor by Loretta Chase

message 14: by Oleander (new)

Oleander | 268 comments I loved the LLG book we read last September and I would shout an enthusiastic YES to adding more to the mix - if my library had the two books proposed. So I don't mind if we bend the rules or stick to them. Susan, your second nomination looks good, so that's two choices for me now.

Merry (jewelhound) | 856 comments Who uses three words when JILTED works lol other than goodreads

message 16: by Mariana (new)

Mariana | 2692 comments I nominate Sealed With a Kiss by Pamela Morsi and A Groom of One's Own by Maya Rodale. I have not read either, but I think they both have jilting based on the descriptions.
