Andrew Ellinas | 7 comments I’m curious to know on average how quickly you can get through a book! It usually takes me a few months to completely finish a book. I like to really take it all in and sometimes have to go back over certain sections to really cement it in my mind. My mum can skim read and I’ve never understood how she does it!

I’ll be interested to hear how you manage! :)

Samantha | 2 comments Depending on the book, I can finish it in a few hours or a few days. I have made it a mission to clear my TBR list so I am clearing 3-4 books a week at the moment

message 3: by Natasha (new)

Natasha C | 7 comments 600-700 pages takes me about 72 hours when it has my interest.

200-300 pages about 12 hours.

message 4: by Avi (new)

Avi Pinkerton | 19 comments either 3 days or 3 weeks. no in between.

message 5: by Becky (new)

Becky | 3 comments It depends on how interested I am. I can read a 700 page book in a few hours if I’m interested. Other books take longer 🤷🏻‍♀️

message 6: by Sethanic (new)

Sethanic | 14 comments 300-500 pages can take a day. 500-900 can take 2 or 3 days sometimes up to 5. Though it is different if the beginning is hard for me and i need to force myself to push through. That usually will take 2 days of push, and once it get interesting— I’ll finish the rest in a day or less. But i am not working full time, so i have all day to read lol.

I usually go back to some chapters once i finished reading, or in the middle of reading; if i thought i understand something wrong.

message 7: by Sav (new)

Sav | 13 comments Definitely depends on my interest and schedule. But the last few months I’ve been consistent. A slow day averages 100 pages (usually week days while navigating work and other obligations). A good day, I hit 500-600 pages. I also listen to audiobooks while I’m getting ready/doing chores. Those average 1 every few weeks. Clearing 3-4ish books per week.

Court (nurse_court80) | 11 comments 400-500 pages every 3 or days depending on how busy I am.

kaylyn | 1 comments I’m in grad school, so my pace tends to fluctuate! Right now I’m taking about 2-3 days to finish a book, but next week I might not even finish one. I find that books that take me longer to read I tend to retain better though, so I def get what you’re saying about fully absorbing the content! When I read something in a day or 2 sometimes the plot gets lost in all the other plots and I end up not remembering it :/

message 10: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 12 comments Usually I go through a book in about 2-3 days, averaging 6 hour read time per book on my kindle. I can do audio books in about that time as well because I listen on 2.75 speed :)

message 11: by Jade (new)

Jade Stamper | 2 comments A good book that really draws me in and keeps me hooked i can definitely finish a 600 page in 2 days. Books that move slow with the plot. Take me double time. I love face paced books

message 12: by Lexi (new)

Lexi (lexislife) | 1 comments Usually takes me about 1-5 days to finish a book depending on length and how invested I am in the book. If im really into it I’ll accidentally pull an all nighter to finish (I have to force myself not to do that lol). But I read on my kindle when I’m at home and on the kindle app on my phone when I’m literally anywhere else and listen to the audio book sometimes when I’m working. The books I read are usually around 600-900 pages

message 13: by Reading Mouse (new)

Reading Mouse (readingmouse_21) 1-2 days for a 300-500 page book on average

message 14: by Shelby (new)

Shelby Buckner (shelby_buckner) Depending on how good the book is, usually between 3 days-1 week. If I don’t like it as much it can take me up to 3 weeks :(

message 15: by Maya (new)

Maya | 2 comments It depends, sometimes I finish a book in a few hours/1 day, sometimes it takes 2-4 if it is a bigger book. It really just depends on how much time I have and how much I like the book! I ended up reading "Fourth Wing" in one day!

bookworm ꣑ৎ‎ ˚. (more active) I’m generally quite a fast reader depending on the circumstances. If you left me alone with no distractions and a book I LOVE, I could finish it within a few hours/that day. If it’s a book I’m not that invested in, it could take me days (or even weeks)! It also depends on the length of the book, the writing, text size, etc. ❤️🤍

message 17: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Kersey | 6 comments Usually read 2-3 books at a given time. 300 page book…1-2 days. 700 page book 3-4 days. Taking longer the last few days since hubby is out of town and I’m stuck with 4 kids 😂😂😂

Andrew Ellinas | 7 comments Every time I read one of these responses it makes me feel even more incredibly slow at reading 😂 thanks for all the responses, great to know from all different perspectives!

No point in comparing yourself to others as long as you're enjoying the books. You do you.

message 20: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 4 comments Depending on the book I might finish between a couple hours or a week or 2

message 21: by Charity (new)

Charity (Booktrovert Reader) (booktrovertreader) | 27 comments On average, a 300-400 page book can take me a week to read. All depends on how invested I am in the story

message 22: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 24 comments If It's good, like ACOTAR, I was doing a book and a half each day. I lost some serious sleep. I work part-time, but I knock out between 300 and 600 pages in a day, again, I fly through some stuff - Fourth Wing series started one day after work and finished next afternoon. I don't like it because I constantly have to find new series. I lose track of time and boom, it's 4 in the morning.

message 23: by Shyanne (new)

Shyanne | 3 comments I have been known to read 300-500 page books in a day. I read as soon as I get home from work, break for dinner, and then read until bedtime.

message 24: by Talie (new)

Talie Sanchez | 4 comments I read instead of spending hours on Tik, or Instagram, or any social media app. It is a discipline. The way I think about it is if I can spend hours or even minutes on social media apps especially scrolling then I can spend time on reading instead it's productive.
It is about priority. Also I don't spend alot of time watching TV/Streaming and Watching Films, I rather read because I spent alot of time doing that and prefer to read.
If I watch something it has because of a specific reason.

When I am not reading I am usually caught with other tasks like working on software gigs, making films, learning to further my craft and go out explore places, doing housework. Anything that requires me to work with my hands if possible.

message 25: by Talie (new)

Talie Sanchez | 4 comments Also at first pick genres that would interest you first.
I can't read books that entail james patterson's writing, or nora roberts it bores me. No Shade, but I get turned off. Anything western or mystery is hard for me to read through.
I rather read fiction.
See what you like reading is supposed to be fun. The more fun it is the more discipline you can be to read more. Also if you are trying to set realistic reading goals start small. My youngest sis is not a reader, and she knows this so if all she can do is one book a month then one book it is.
If one book is all you can do a week then do that. Divide the book pages by 6 and read that many pages per day and give yourself a rest day do something else.
that's how I got back into reading now I don't even think about it to be a chore. I genuinely enjoy reading.

Hope that helps

message 26: by blissful.brii (new)

blissful.brii | 10 comments For me it depends on my week/month and how busy I am. But usually on average a decent size book 300-500 pages in a 1-3 weeks or sometimes even less than that if I have more time on my hands or “binge” through it it can be a few days.
