Eleven | 570 comments MC themed books, more often than not, come in series, usually one for each member. And boy are there good series out there. This is a place to rave about your favorite series and recommend them to others. There's nothing better than getting hooked on a new series and realizing there are 20 or more books for you out there to read in the future, presumably all good as that Book One you are currently clutching in your eager hands.
Let's start, give us your series.

Eleven | 570 comments In no particular order - well, rather in the haphazard order I have it on my Kindle, here it goes, the series I've found worthy of keeping to read again and again.

Craving Constellations (The Aces, #1) by Nicole Jacquelyn Aces MC - Nicole Jacquelin is a series with many heartbreaking books. It will kick you in the feels

Judgment (Angel's Halo MC #1) by Terri Anne Browning Angel's Halo MC - Terri Anne Browning - I found it light and entertaining, despite the heavy topics, and pretty consistent, more or less. It ventured lightly in the realm of impossible later on when (view spoiler) but other than that it's been enjoyable

Slow Burn (Lost Kings MC, #1) by Autumn Jones Lake Lost Kings MC - Autumn Jones Lake - one of the must reads if you're into MC romance

Charge (Steel Bones Motorcycle Club, #1) by Cate C. Wells Steel Bones MC - Cate C. Wells - many people who don't like biker themed romance find this series the only one from the genre they like to read. Personally, I think it's a very good series but it didn't move me to the extent some others did.

The Other Princess (Aces High MC - Charleston, #1) by Christine Michelle Aces High - Christine Michelle - this series is a mixed bag. While some books are really great - The other princess, Dancing with danger, Redemption weather and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, to name a few, some other read like they're missing parts or like they're rushed, and some, frankly, get too repetitive with whining heroines.

Fearless (Dartmoor, #1) by Lauren Gilley Dartmoor - Lauren Gilley -another staple of MC romance world, not to be missed

Down & Dirty Zak (Dirty Angels MC, #1) by Jeanne St. James Dirty Angels MC -Jeanne St. James - fun and consistent series that will keep you entertained

Crash (Brazen Bulls MC, #1) by Susan Fanetti Brazen Bulls MC and Signal Bend - Susan Fanetti - together with their various spin-offs those are two best biker series out there.

The Secret's Out (Hawks MC Caroline Springs Charter, #1) by Lila Rose Hawks MC - Lila Rose - with various series for different chapters of the club, this series raises some great issues, has some truly remarkable moments, includes one of the best MM books I've read so far, but, ironically, I almost missed out on it, since the only book in the series I haven't completely liked is Book One - Holding out, in which comedy went a bit too far for my taste. (That's why the link features Book 1 from the other chapter :-)).

UnScrew Me (Savage Beast MC #1) by Hayley Faiman Savage Beast MC - Hayley Faiman - the heaviest on the kink series from those mentioned so far, not all the books, but some feature women in cages, threesomes on the regular, and other similar topics. Interesting and with more than a touch of dark, I loved it.

This is it for now folks, more to come soon, promise, I'm only on the letter H of my list.

Great :-). Sounds like we have many potential books of the month or buddy reads already there to pick from.

I have to find some free time to type the rest of the series that are on the list, we'll see what more goodies do you have stashed.

Eleven | 570 comments Continuing with the list:

Meant to Be (Heaven Hill, #1) by Laramie Briscoe Heaven Hill - Laramie Briscoe, I especially liked the first book in this one, found it refreshingly realistic if I remember it correctly, and it was free

Devil's Disciples MC Romance Complete Series Motorcycle Club Romance by Scott Hildreth Devil's Disciples MC - Scott Hildreth - finally a male take on biker romance, the whole series for $0.99, and one real heartbreaking book among it, of the kind that stays with you forever.

Jake's Silence (Hell's Riders, #1) by Joy Blood Hell's Riders - Joy Blood - some very strong characters in this one, with hard destinies, also more on the realistic side which is always good, at least in my book. There is a separate series for Rhino chapter.

Arrow of Time (Marauders, #1) by Lina Andersson Marauders - Lina Andersson - one of seminal authors in the genre in my opinion. Although not typical, her books are extremely interesting and well written. If you've noticed, series often get worse and worse after the great first book. Here, the opposite is the case, first book is perhaps a bit slow, but each book following it is better and better, the last being truly epic. A shame is that the author hasn't published anything in a long while, if somebody knows why, please share.

Lock & Key (Lock & Key, #1) by Cat Porter Lock & Key - Cat Porter - another of the great seminal works in the field. I can't emphasize enough how great her books are. Not to be skipped. Wreck is one of the most tragic literally characters I've encountered.

Turning Wheels (Satan's Devils MC, #1) by Manda Mellett Satan's Devils - Manda Mellett - entertaining and light reading, her books never disappoint. Joker's Fool included in the series is the best MM book I've ever read. The rest are FM, and I liked them all, some of them dealing with heavy topics. Only notable exception, that I consider to be below the standard of the rest of the series (and I include in this all various spin-offs for different chapters), is the first book. And Mouse's book which didn't hit the spot for me at all.

message 6: by Eleven (last edited Mar 30, 2024 09:20AM) (new)

Eleven | 570 comments Outlaw (Evil Dead MC, #1) by Nicole James The Evil Dead MC - Nicole James- this series is a bit of a conundrum - first nine books are among the best MC genre has to offer. They're seriously good. Addictive even. Unputdownable. Seriously. Do. Not. Miss. And then something happened. Don't know what. But Book 10 and several after were just, I don't know, empty? Didn't flow? Boring? Felt wrong, like it's not the same series? You had certain expectation from characters based on previous books, and Book 10 just didn't deliver. I stopped reading the series after three or so books that disappointed me, so perhaps it did get better again, I don't know.

Taking a break now, but the rest of the list follows soon, I promise :-).

I see a lot of potential there, a lot of buddy reads in our future. Things are definitively looking up.
You haven't been kidding when you said you have a ton of MC's on your TBR list. We need to start working on those ASAP.

Agreed!
I also have a small collection of The Royal Bastards by various authors.

Eleven | 570 comments Let's finish the list. And it's almost like I saved the best for the last.

Shattered & Scarred (The Sacred Hearts MC #1) by A.J. Downey Sacred Brotherhood and Sacred Hearts MC - A.J. Downey - I think another seminal work which shouldn't be missed, truly enjoyable books, excellent writing and world building. Oddly enough, I havent enjoyed her Sacred Hearts Pacific Northwest series that came after, probably a bit stale with the ideas after all the greatness before it.

Raine Falling (Hells Saints Motorcycle Club, #1) by Paula Marinaro Hells Sainst MC - Paula Marinaro - another of the greats, not to be missed series, bonus is that the author regularly has one of the books from the series free, and rotates them, meaning you can collect them all if you are patient. Which I wasn't. It was so good that after reading one, I had to get them all immediately.

Doc Marshall Skulls The Early Years (Skulls MC) by Jessie Cooke Skulls The Early Years - Jessie Cooke - there is entire Skulls MC series, which is alright, but has its issues - usually not following up events from one book to the next - however it doesn't take away from reading enjoyment. But, forget Skulls, and read The Early Years collection. Doc Marshall's and Coyote Lee's books are especially notable. But really all Early Years books are so good. You need these books in your life. Coyote Lee book is something everybody should read, because it teaches you a very important life lesson. Read it and see.

Nyx (Dark and Dirty Sinners' MC, #1) by Serena Akeroyd Dark & Dirty Sinners - Serena Akeroyd - not as good as the previous three in this post, but still notable, a series with a great start with Nyx, but kind of went downhill from there. Still at least first several books are definitively worth reading.

That's it, folks. If and when I find another series that belongs on here, I'll definitively add it, and in the meantime, I hope to see some new to me series from other members' favorites.

I've got about 18 different Royal Bastards MC books (seems to be a rather popular name) by various authors. My Kindle says that I wasn't particularly impressed by either of them. My memory draws blank - which is consistent with me not being particularly impressed.

The weather's been crazy this year. Well, the last several years really. We've really done and messed up the climate for good I think.

Head stuck in the sand is an amazingly comfortable position for most people. No wonder we're then left trying to converse with their butts. And getting nowhere.

Most of the times, I try to remind myself that it's not worth it to try anymore at all. We all know that asses don't have ears and it will lead nowhere. But sometimes I forget and waste time and energy which I will never get back...

Debra Johnson (debraptj) I have a tendency to be weird with them.
Sometimes I just stare at them while I imagine slamming their heads into things.
Like walls, desk etc.
Sometimes my brain is working and I say things that throw them for a loop
Other times I just tell them their being naïve or stupid or ignorant
I never know HOW I'm going to react.
Nor what I will say.

Eleven | 570 comments As you're gonna see from the review I'm about to post on here, I'm on a bit of a reread binge through my (too) extensive collection. And rereading the steel bones prequel made me change my mind about the series - it's better than I remember it. Or to put more precisely, at least the prequel is, going to check out the rest now, filled with happy anticipation. But first, here's the review for
Twitch (Steel Bones Motorcycle Club, #0.5) by Cate C. Wells

So I've been all about cleaning up space on my Kindle lately. What does it have to do with this book? Well, as it turns out, a lot. With time, I've accumulated tons of biker romances. And I do mean I've got a lot of 'em downloaded - it's over 90 folders, each containing between several and a hundred books. My method is as follows - when I read something that I especially like for whatever reason, I leave the download for later, so I can reread whenever the time comes. Well, since I've been doing this for years, and with years we all kinda evolve - at least I like to hope so- there are some books stored that are not quite so great as I once thought. (Is it just me or did you notice it too - kind of getting a bit jaded with reading, and what you once thought epic, is now just average or subpar, and you need quite a lot more excellence to be impressed?) So I've decided to finally do the reread part. But only of the books which I can't remember in details for whatever reason. Which is, it turns out, quite a lot of them. And I reread a lot of mediocre books lately. Deleted them all. And got frustrated, till I picked up this one. And could slip into it like in a favorite, comfortable shoe. I sighed. And thought, contentedly - now, that's how it's done. Without having to struggle through all the books I've read before it, I don't think I'd be able to appreciate this one fully, but boy oh boy there's some good writing in this short - but not too short, it's just as it should be - read. And it's not just that, like a lot of prequels in an MC books series, it brings us back in time of Vietnam war, which is one of my favorite time periods to read about. It's the characters. They come alive from the first page and pull you in. You can taste, feel and smell everything, if you allow yourself to do it. And they're real. Strong. And the connection between Twitch and Shirlene is so vibrant, hot, but also has just the right amount of sweet thrown in. This story, if you let it, will make you feel just a little bit redeemed.

Eleven | 570 comments Combust (Savage Disciples MC, #5) by Drew Elyse

I've been reading through this series, and while first 4 books were good and engaging, they were still missing that certain something that hits the spot just right. And then finally, book 5 hit the spot completely (don't worry, it works well as standalone too, but it's not like first 4 aren't worth reading). Loved the characters, the plot, everything. And it had just the right amount of biker wisdom interspersed to make it an educational experience on dealing with the loss and various messes in life, and we all need some of that, sooner or later. Doc has been like a regular biker Joda in this one, and it helped the story wonderfully.

Eleven | 570 comments Just finished rereading the Sacred Hearts (complete with Sacred Brotherhood) series by AS Downey. Boy oh boy is it good, even better than I remember it (which is so rare, usually upon embarking on a reread I end up disappointed). It welcomed me back like a warm blanket, and with the exception of Data's book which didn't work for me, it kept up like that book after book - warm, relaxing, and simply good writing. Love that series. Make sure not to forget to include Sage's novella as the last book of the series (it was published years after Dragon's book, but it's sure is a part of the whole experience).
