Nothing But Reading Challenges discussion
Team Challenge - Book Games
>
District 5

Our eighth book will be Ten Tiny Breaths. To complete the overlap of 3 letters (NTE), we will be receiving a supply drop book for N.
(Also just a heads up, but I think you skipped Edge of the Abyss when adding the books to your official spreadsheet)

The only thing I found is: th!s, which I'm not willing to buy.
We could send the last word back to them
21 Breaths: Breathing Techniques to Change your Life
3 Breaths
but we risk them sending breaths back to us again.
The only other book I found is Breaths of Desire
I can read any of the bottom 3 options. Honestly, their insistance at sending the hardest possible book every single time is beyond frustrating. I'm ready for this part of the challenge to be done. 5 points are not worth this much aggravation.
Anyone else have ideas or suggestions?

Personally, I think we should avoid getting breaths back and just go for the last option. Let’s just try and get through this challenge and move on as I agree that protecting our resources is more advantageous than 5 points.

Breaths of desire seems the safest option. Let’s do it.

This is the rule for children’s books.
Books with MPGs Childrens / Kids / Poetry / Play / Graphic Novel / Illustrated / Photography / Art (or which have "Illustrated" in the title or an "Illustrator" contributor in the metadata) must have at least 25,000 words (must be a verified count. sites that provide estimated word counts are not valid sources for verifying word count). ArBookFind is a great site to double check (there are .com, .co.uk and .com.au versions). If in doubt, ask your captain. Another rule of thumb is the audiobook version should be over 3 hours.

If no one else is willing to read a book for back, I’m happy to read the last option.

As a reminder, books must be started and finished between 7/22 9am UTC and 7/29 9am UTC.

I’ll be traveling for a little over a week starting tomorrow so not sure I’ll be able to post books as I will just have my phone. I’m also not sure how much of any I’ll be able to read.

lol that’s exactly what I did. Powered through those 2 awful books yesterday and finished it.

For this challenge you have two wheels, and will have one active spin of each at a time.
One wheel is the District Wheel, requiring you to complete the set of tasks associated with the District. Each task must be filled with a different book (can't use one book to fill multiple tasks).
The other wheel is the Arena Hazards Wheel, which is a spell out wheel. Each letter must be filled with a different book (can't use one book to fill multiple letters).
Spell outs can use the first letter of the title or series title (ignore or use THE, A or AN as you prefer), the first letter of the author, narrator* or translator* first or last names. For this version NO character names are permitted.
* these can only be used if the edition read was audio or translated
Once you have finished a wheel you can request a new spin from the other captains, or repeat the requirements again - the choice is yours!
For the District Wheel, if on respinning you receive a set of tasks you have already read you may request another spin for a new set.
For the Arena Hazards Wheel, you may NOT request a new spin even if you receive a duplicate word.

This mini-game will start at 9am UTC 1 August, and end at the end of the challenge.
Books used for this mini-game must be finished during the period of the mini-game.
All books used in the mini get 5 points
Our first spins are:
District Wheel Arena Hazard Wheel
District 9 vicious hornets
All the sheets are up on the tracking spreadsheet. You don't have to enter anything on the mini tabs. Just fill in the reference number from column A and the reason it fits in columns N and O respectively on the Round 3 sheet, and the information will fill in automatically. We will be spinning the wheel multiple times hopefully, so if your book does not work for one of the first set of tasks but does work for other tasks please list the reasons in column P (Notes).
