Definitely. That goes for anything chosen using a goodreads tag. You can never trust them fully unfortunately. I try to correct anything I personally find that's incorrect. Despite that tags and lists are always a good place to start. I like having as many options as possible to choose from because I'm sure most of us hate having to force ourselves through a book we didn’t want to read and don't enjoy just for a reading challenge. I have to at least be interested in what I'm reading lol

Lexi | 4254 comments That sounds great. Circe just made me sad, as I would have loved an excuse to reread it. Even the lists I shared are sometimes geographically confused, as I am pretty sure The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon is Brazil.

I found two from Columbia I might read (I read It Would Be Night in Caracas before). Now to see if the library has them: The Sound of Things Falling and Fruit of the Drunken Tree

Tricia (books2hooks) | 479 comments Can Harry Potter and the Cursed Child count for this challenge? I know it's written like a screenplay, so I wasn't sure, but it has cornupia in the title so worth checking. :D

Word count comes in at 45,000 verified (https://www.arbookfind.co.uk/bookdeta...) so yes you can

some of the captains made a list of Diacritic in Author's Name

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...

Feel free to add any to it, I always find these helpful in showing me what on my want to read list fits. There's some good stuff on here :)

Tricia (books2hooks) | 479 comments Sorry to rain on the parade but I don't think the two titles listed in c16 and c17 will work - the hidden word needs to be at least 4 letters, right?

Thanks, that is a good catch. I removed both books. I think Judith and I both missed the 4 letter rule with everything else getting set up.

Killer Instinct (The Naturals, #2) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Or how about rope as a weapon?

Her Final Breath (Tracy Crosswhite, #2) by Robert Dugoni

How do we feel about calling this three foods-- cake, strawberry, and frosting?

It's a stretch but 3 foods on a cover is tough!

For those planning on reading Starling House for the first June BOM (starting on June 2), it works for the task: Author initials in HERACLES

it may for other tasks too, but that seemed like a good place for it

the answer to this one is no, think of it as how you'd order the item at a bakery or restaurant. You wouldn't order those three things separately, you'd just order the slice of cake that happened to come with the strawberries as decoration.

This one though, I think we can be a bit creative. While the cupcake/cherry counts as one item. You can use the pansies as those are one of the most popular edible flowers. So they are a food item as far as I'm concerned :)

Lexi | 4254 comments I’m pretty sure they are supposed to be violets but still very commonly used in food. Good to know that we can use edible plants. When do animals become food? Can we eat the seagull?

Lexi | 4254 comments I found a recipe: http://www.theoldfoodie.com/2015/07/h....

I wonder if you wouldn’t need to feed it clean for a few days before slaughter like possum. Which I haven’t eaten, but possum is traditionally captured live and corn fed for a few days before slaughter where I’m from.

I guess you could eat the seagull raw? but I think that's a bit of a stretch and if we can avoid going there, I'd prefer that.

Please keep sharing covers if you have questions though and am happy to keep making questionable decisions :)

This seems to have a mushroom and 2 types of fruit (yellow apples and I think green apples - something behind the title).

Thoughts?

Weyward by Emilia Hart

message 227: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4254 comments Thank you, Judith, for taking my comment seriously. I was mostly being silly, and this is the second NBRC challenge which I’ve got to discuss eating possum. I don’t think there are two types of apples due to leaf differences but yes to two fruit plus apparently non toxic mushroom. Though I wouldn’t recommend eating apparently non toxic mushrooms in real life.

Lexi | 4254 comments I would go with black walnut if I had to pick one. My mum is better at trees than I am. Generally if I can identify a plant, you shouldn’t eat it as my only botany in school was part of my toxicology course.

Oh I know you were being a bit silly and I got a good laugh. But it made me think a bit so figured I should address it :P

I don't know if they still do (or if the place is still open) but there was a diner near my grandmother's house which served muskrat when it was in season.

Yes! I saw that on the spreadsheet and had been meaning to peak at the cover

message 232: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4254 comments I like muskrats but never thought of eating one. There was a particularly cute taxidermy one at a state park that I saw this weekend. It appears to be pretty common to eat historically. I found this Great Depression era article from the forest service: https://digitalmedia.fws.gov/digital/.... You do have to soak them to remove some of the musk but no one appears to clean feed them.

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments So if a book isn't on the tracking sheet or on the team sheet does that mean it was never added to the tracking sheet? Just want to make sure cause there's a book I thought I already added but don't see it on either spreadsheet. I'll go ahead and assume I forgot to add it so I'll just add it now.

Yes, I would say that is correct. Also, you could always unhide the rows at the top and do a search. We don't delete anything from the tracking sheet. Read books just get moved to the top and once added to the official sheet, those rows get hidden.

Though if you are ever worried a book of yours is missing, let me know and I can always do a search for it as well. It's easier for something to get lost with the number of books being read each round.

Yes, I find it most helpful in terms of percentages of a given color and less so with the actual color.

There's a countdown in the spreadsheet on the summary page for the start of the mini but here is one for those who find them helpful.

I'll also put this in one of my top posts so people can find it easily.
