Hello and Welcome to District 8, where all the best textiles are made!

I'm Judith (she/her/hers) and your captain for this maiden voyage of Book Games and I'm also one of the mods of the group behind this adventure.

We have a lot of fun things in store for you and please ask questions here in the thread as there are many moving pieces.

Personally speaking I live in the US on the East Coast and professionally am an economist for the USEPA in the toxic chemical office. Outside of work and reading, I spend most of my time chasing after an active 6 year old. I read almost any genre of books and am always looking for new recommendations.

I think we have a great team and am looking forward to getting to hang out together for the next 3 months!

I went grabbing team member shelves for those I could either find and/or figure out easily.

Please check the links above to make sure it's correct. Or please make and then provide the link to your shelf in the thread and I'll get the list updated.

Thank you!

Vikki (silverstarz) | 1278 comments *waves* hi everyone!

I'm Vikki from Northern Ireland. Work as a sales & marketing manager but am also Chief Examinations Invigilator during May & June. So not quite as much free time for reading as I'd like during these months.

My favourite genres are crime & thriller but I also read historical fiction, fantasy, chick lit, anything that grabs my attention really.

I've taken part in a lot of team challenges here and have just finished Uno in another group. So looking forward to this challenge.

My shelf is here

message 14: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) Hi new friends! I'm Stacie (she/her/hers). I live in Maryland, a couple miles outside of Washington, DC! I'm a married crazy cat lady (we have 4). For work, aka the thing that keeps me from reading 24/7, I'm an analyst cosplaying as a survey statistician for the US Census Bureau. I read a lot of romance and fantasy but have been slowly branching out to see what else I might like.

So excited to hang out with all of you for the next 3 months. Just a quick note, I'll be out of town right when the challenge starts at a book signing (May 16-19) with access only through the app but I'll read on the plane and update when I get back!

What is a Chief Examinations Invigilator during May & June?

message 17: by Cordelia (new)

Cordelia | 464 comments Hi! My shelf is games

I'm excited for this new challenge and to get to know you all better! I read a lot of fantasy and historical fiction, although I read other genres too. I've been trying to clear my physical shelves this year and while I am still far from over (although I have made some great progress) I'm looking forward to hopefully getting to read some bricks this challenge as I love reading big books but haven't read as many as I would like lately.

In the UK students take external exams (GCSE & A-Levels) . I'm Chief Invigilator, which means I supervise the exams but am also in charge of the other invigilators in the school I work in. It also means more work from an admin perspective as well.

Logan (loganturner) | 1643 comments Hi team!! My shelf is nbrc-book-games.

I'm Logan(she/her), 42yo married and childfree in Denver CO. I have 2 dogs, a 4yo chihuahua/Pomeranian mix and a 7 month old Boston Terrier puppy. The Bostie had her spay yesterday and is apparently on good pain meds because she is active as heck (and here I thought we'd get a pause on puppy energy for a least a few days 😅).

I work remotely for an insurance company as a software engineer. I just switched careers and started in role in November so it is challenging but I absolutely love it.

I read pretty much anything and am so excited for this challenge! My reading has been a bit slumpy lately so I'm ready to get in gear!

Melanie (mvalente89) | 1026 comments Hello everyone! I'm Melanie and I live in New Jersey with my husband and our two cats. I work in the finance department at a publisher. I primarily read romance and thrillers with the occasional other genre thrown in. I'm looking forward to playing this one.

Here's my shelf.

Mary | 164 comments Hello All!

My name is Mary (she/her/hers). If you are familiar with the Pacific Northwest or know your airport call letters, you may have guessed that the PDX in my name on the sheets is for Portland, Oregon.

I've only done one other team challenge (TTX) and it really upped my reading game so I am very excited for this one.

I actually read the first two Hunger Games books earlier in the year and Mocking Jay is most definitely on my list.

Happy Reading!

Krissy (krissystewart) | 316 comments Okay I'm back!

Hi, team! My name is Krishawna but I go by Krissy (she/her). Some quick facts about me:
●42 years old
●live in Missouri (🤮)
●married for 22 years (together for 26)
●husband recently retired from the army after 21 years (still works as a supervisor at a full time job AND also owns his own mowing business that he does on weekends cause he is addicted to earning and hoarding money!🤣)
●3 kids (G21, G14, B12)
●3 dogs (Pug, Husky, Great Dane)
● I work strictly for pocket money which I use for whatever strikes my fancy since my hubby pulls in 4 incomes. Usually I spend it on bullshit I don't need and audiobooks lol
●I am an audiobook listener especially since I drive for work
●Genre of choice MM romance but as you can tell by my shelves I'll read any genre as long as it isn't overly religious or political. That includes in my fiction books as well.
●I have been playing reading challenges throughout many groups since around 2012-2013.
●Excited to get started!!

😁😁😁😁

If I'm honest I should probably brush them more than I do. Their fur just falls out anyway, or I pluck their tufts rather than the actual brush. My Husky can't stand still long enough for a good brushing and my Malamute can have his moments when he just doesn't want to bothered. They are 2 real characters.

My Husky is aso quiet. No barking or talking or anything! Except at the groomers lol. But she is pure Husky personality other than the silence. Having to hand over a dead chicken to the neighbors with an apology and an IOU for a new chicken was our official graduation into Husky ownership 🤣

We do get a discount on physical books if we place orders directly with them and we can also get any ebooks or audiobooks for free through a portal they have for employees. They also have a bookstore attached to the warehouse where you can get books for super cheap although since I've been remote for 4 years I haven't been able to take advantage of that in a while.

Thankfully mine haven't done anything like that.

But the utility room cupboard doors have been stripped, the corner of a table disappeared and a curtain got chewed. My Malamute put the washing machine on at a 90 wash. And my Husky loves to open doors
