Pony Xaviors (ponyxaviors) | 387 comments If you like short stories (I don't generally, but I had to read some for a book challenge last year), The Pram by Joe Hill had a pretty good horror vibe to it, I thought.

Also, this generally doesn't seem like it'd be scary at all, but I got so invested when I read House of Dark Shadows and the rest of its series, I definitely started getting a "feeling watched" mentality (although I was in a 100 year old farmhouse when I read it, so that may have contributed to the feeling). That one's Young Adult.

I also second Pamela's The Haunting of Hill House suggestion.

I love a good horror story too! I used to binge-watch horror movies, but now many of them seem predictable (or even laughable). As far as books go, have you tried any of these?

"House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski - It’s about a family that discovers their house is bigger on the inside than the outside, but the story is told through multiple layered narratives that make you question reality.
"Penpal" by Dathan Auerbach - Originating from a series of creepypasta posts, this novel effectively uses the fear of stalking and being watched. It's told in a series of non-linear personal recollections that slowly uncover a childhood horror.
"The Ritual" by Adam Nevill - Four old college friends reunite for a trip through an Arctic forest that turns into a nightmare when they take a shortcut. The book combines elements of folk horror with psychological terror.
"Carrion Comfort" by Dan Simmons - This novel explores the concept of psychic vampires who manipulate others to commit acts of violence. It’s intense and sprawling, exploring the depth of human malevolence and fear.

Of course! Keep me posted if you find any other good ones as well. I'm always on the hunt for my next read.
