For our group reads for - June - we have chosen two books each with the theme - First month of winter where snowbirds flock to Port Douglas & the Whitsundays - Birds on cover - therefore members will have four to choose from when you vote in the poll. (Once again, all Aussie authors)

Our choices are:

Nevernight (The Nevernight Chronicle, #1) by Jay Kristoff Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

Daughter of an executed traitor, Mia Corvere is barely able to escape her father’s failed rebellion with her life. Alone and friendless, she hides in a city built from the bones of a dead god, hunted by the Senate and her father’s former comrades. But her gift for speaking with the shadows leads her to the door of a retired killer, and a future she never imagined.

Breakaway House by Arthur W. Upfield Breakaway House by Arthur W. Upfield

In an isolated valley in Western Australia a man has inexplicably disappeared. Now policeman Harry Tremayne has come to Bowgada cattle station determined to find out what has happened to his brother-and why.

The Sea Captain's Wife by Jackie French The Sea Captain's Wife by Jackie French

You never know what the sea will give you ... or what it will take back.

When Mair McCrae follows her island tradition and hunts for a husband cast up on the beach, she has no notion that the naked, half-drowned man she rescues is not just Captain Michael Dawson, heir to a major shipping firm, but that he's obsessed by a 'ghost ship' carrying golden cargo.

The Search Party by Hannah Richell The Search Party by Hannah Richell

Max and Annie Kingsley have left the London rat race with their twelve-year-old son to set up a glamping site in the wilds of Cornwall. Eager for a dry run ahead of their opening, they invite three old university friends and their families for a long-needed reunion. But the festivities soon go awry as tensions arise between the children (and subsequently their parents), explosive secrets come to light, and a sudden storm moves in, cutting them off from help as one in the group disappears.
